Marvel Legends Vintage X-men Series Cyclops, Iceman & Dazzler

A new day and with a bit more motivation. The pics for these three turned out much better this time round. There's lots to see so let's get to it.

First up is Cyclops in his X-Factor costume. It's not a look I'll put on my "want" list. However, with so many of his costumes released might as well add it to his wardrobe. The body reuses the Bucky Cap body with new gloved forearms and boots. Both gloves and boots were sculpted and has hardly any detail on them. I believe the head sculpt is new. The head looks a little slimmer and the mouth looks to be sculpted differently from the classic costume. This figure is notable for the optic blast what's the word to use... vapour? I'll just go with that. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Right? There's optic blast vapour spewing from his visor. I like that they tried creating that sort of look from the comics. The paint apps are not great. It's pretty patchy on the arms and legs. The white strip on his head looks to be off centre. The metallic blue on his arms and legs is of a darker tone compared to that on his torso. It's rather distracting.

Accessories. Cyclops comes with an alternate optic blast head and an optic blast effect piece.

The alternate head likewise has some optic blast vapor at his visor as well. The visor is hollow so as to peg the optic blast piece in. Note the wavy sort of shape in the paint at the bottom of the visor. Initially I thought it was poor paint apps. I looked up some of the promo pics and it looked like it has it apparently. The alternate head also has gritted teeth. The expression goes along well for when he fires his optic blast. The head may be used on the classic body. It just needs a bit of paint.

The optic blast effect piece fits securely in his visor. It has a nice shape and I like the ridges on it. Pretty cool!

Next up Iceman.

This is Iceman in his classic look. There's not much to say about him. It's a pretty cool figure. The body reuses the Sunfire body which I think suits him. I quite like the silver pearlescent silver look.

Now here's where it gets really annoying. There's a very noticeable line running down the centre of his head. It really spoils the look. It looks as if his head about to split into two... I'm very disappointed. I hope it's not prevalent and you have better luck with your figures.

You can get a better look at his eyes here. It has a blue outline.

Accessories. He comes with an ice slide. It has a bluish colour to it which is a mismatch to his body. Really... his ice powers should be similar to how he appears... or at least white. I wouldn't mind white. The ice slide has a nice look to it. I wish it were bigger. And maybe even have a vertical section so he can power his slide with his hands.

Looking at available space the following is the best way for him to fully stand on the slide. There's a peg at the back so he is quite secure.

And lastly Dazzler.

Dazzler's appearance is based on her look from the 80s. It's not my preferred look for her but I must say she looks good, especially when you group her with similar era figures. Dazzler is truly a star. I love the make-up work done for her face. I especially like her light blue eye shadow. Then there's her eye liner and purplish lipstick. Very nice! I also like her skin tone. Her short hair looks great as well. I like that there's some shading in it. The body reuses Mystique's body, along with Rogue's jacket and belt. The glove tops are separate pieces. The shade of blue of her costume is nice. The paint apps are good too.

A close-up of her face. Check out the eye shadow. Click images to enlarge.

Accessories. Dazzler comes with a pair of light effect pieces. We've seen these effect pieces before. This set though has some gold glitter embedded within. Click images to enlarge. In order to use these as intended you'll have to push the glove top pieces back in order to clip them to her wrists. The gloves are a little too thick. Depending on the angle you view her, you may see exposed skin, thus breaking up her gloved look. The effect pieces flop around with the larger clips.

Articulation

Cyclops has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. The gloves prevent full usage of the elbow joints.

Iceman has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot

Dazzler has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Comparison shots.

All three are nice figures. I'm upset with Iceman for that line down his face and colour mismatch of the ice slide. Thanks for viewing!

Nice! I've been so taken with the retro packaging that I hadn't bothered to look at the figures themselves, but they look more than decent which is brilliant.

Hasbro really dropped the ball by not including open hands with Iceman, what were they thinking? Same with having permanent optic blast FX glued to his head. Shoulda been removable.

Thank you all for your kind words! I'll certainly try to post as regularly as I can.

@De zhang - probably classic look Iceman. Silver for classic groups and blue coloured for modern groups.

@Eddie - Agree with you.
