Marvel Legends Infinite Series Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon & Groot

Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy and it was good! Loved it! Great fun and tons of action. There were lots of spectacular visuals. I especially loved seeing Knowhere and the fleet battle at the end. I think the cast did a great job in their roles. There is a short end credit scene. We get to see a character who we haven't seen for some time on screen. Howard the Duck.

Right now for a look at the last figures of the wave, Rocket and the Groot BAF.

Rocket is a decent figure. He's got a good head sculpt. There's nice fur detail not only on his head, but also his neck, arms, feet and tail. His expression could be better. He looks sad. I would like him to look more feisty. The paint on his face was pretty well applied. His costume looks good but it's let down by poor paint apps. There's bleeding and splotches in several areas. He cannot stand on his own and needs to use his tail for support.

He comes with a large gun. Sculpt wise it's pretty screen accurate. The colour is off though. It'll look better with some metal paint. I like that there's a bit of a black wash on it. The strap in the centre makes it a little troublesome for him to hold the handle. He holds the gun better in his left hand, that's where he has a sculpted trigger finger. To make it more secure, you put his arm through the back of the gun.

He also comes with a weapon for Star Lord to use. It's sort of a missile launcher. It's got great sculpted detail on it. It's well painted and also has a black wash on it. It fits well on his body and in his hands.

Alternatively we can use it as a device for Rocket to fiddle with.

Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, wrist swivel, waist rotation and tail rotation. There's no articulation in his legs unfortunately. I guess I'll leave him sitting on Groot. As the shoulder pads jut out, his arms form a Y when they are raised.

Comparison shot. I like the comic version more for the fiercer expression and uniform.

Having finally opened all the figures in the wave, I can finally build Groot. Here's a quick run-down of the figures you need to get to build him.

Rocket Raccoon - head & upper torso
Drax - lower torso
Star Lord - left arm
Nova - right arm
Gamora - left leg
Iron Man (GOTG) - right leg

Groot is nice and tall as he should be. His whole body was well sculpted. There's great tree bark detail. There's hardly any flat surfaces on his body. You can see long branches and vines wrapped around in some places. There's some light brown shading on his body which is nice. He looks a little plain and I would have liked if the lower body in the front had some green like on the upper body and back. He's got a great head sculpt. The likeness is very good to how he appears on screen. His soulful eyes are spot on. I like the little twigs growing out from the top of his head and on his arms. I wonder if we can make an add on and have him armour up with branches growing out from his body.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, sivel hinge wirsts, torso pivot, peg hinge hips, swivel hinge knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can't look down due to his chin hitting his neck.

He'll work great with Marvel Universe figures too.

Tree comparison.

And a comparison with the rest of the team. They look pretty good together.

These two are nice figures. In fact, the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy figures turned out surprisingly well. Thanks for viewing!
