Marvel Legends Series Dr Strange & J. Jonah Jameson (Armadillo BAF)

Here's a look at the Marvel Legends Dr Strange and J. Jonah Jameson form the Armadillo BAF series.

I really like the look of this figure. The head sculpt is great. His attire is highly detailed. And the best part is that there's no magic effect pieces stuck on his arm! The torso and pinless arms are new. He's also got a new belt and skirt piece. The legs reuses those from the previous version. His attire is more movie accurate. We finally see the vertical lines pattern on his upper torso. Then there's the folded layers hanging down his left side of the skirt piece. And right at the bottom we can see that his tabard comprises of multiple layers. Each layer has a patterned trimming too. Another great thing is that it's textured. Very nice! His inner tunic is of a darker tone compared to the tabard. The sleeves have creases and wrinkles on them. His forearms have some straps and wrappings on them. I like that painted in the different colours. I also like that they painted the ring and catches on his belt. I would have liked if they painted the ones on the back of his belt as well.

The head sculpt is great. The likeness is spot on. You can even make out the wrinkles on his forehead. His facial hair looks off to one side. It should be more centralised. It kinda looks like someone drew on his face. His eyes were well done. His hair has good detail. They painted on the grey at the sides.

Accessories. He comes with an extra set of gripping hands, two spell effect pieces with hands attached, The Eye of Agamotto and his cape. The included BAF part is the head of Armadillo.

The cape is the same one as from the Marvel Studios 10 years Infinity War three-pack. It's of a brighter tone and does not have the black wash on the inside.

Here's how he looks with it. I love it! He stands out more with the brighter colour tones throughout.

The spell effect pieces are new. One is smaller than the other. Both pieces look to be of the same design. There's great sculpted detail for both of them. You can make out the lines and the inscriptions. What I like best is the uneven circumference. His spells typically move and rotate in the movies and this makes it more movie accurate. The translucent plastic used is quite soft so you'll want to take care when swapping in these effect hands.

For a different spell you can use the one from the What If...? Dr Strange Supreme. The hand will fit.

Here's a close-up of the Eye of Agamotto. It's new. The sculpt is a lot better than the previous one we got. That one looked like more like a piece of rock. With this one you can make out the lines better and see different layers. I forgot to take a close-up comparison for this. I'll get to it tomorrow. For now you can check it out in the figure comparison below. You'll be able to tell it's different. Click images to enlarge. The necklace strap is not single colour. It has red and some gold on it.

(UPDATE 6 October 2021 8pm)

Here's the necklace comparison. The new one is better shaped. It's more flat and the lines and internal mechanisms can be seen clearly. I like the tone of gold better. It does not contain the Time Stone anymore so it does not have the green glow. The strap is textured and has some red on it, and gold for the clasps. I prefer the look of the strap of the previous one better.

Next up J. Jonah Jameson (JJJ).

You may want to keep the cardboard insert for the Daily Bugle graphics. It makes a nice backdrop.

Who else was stoked when JJJ appeared in Far From Home? I was delighted that J.K. Simmons reprised the role. And now I'm happy that we got a figure of him. The head sculpt is excellent. It has a great likeness to J. K. Simmons. The body reuses the Bruce Banner body. The jacket is buttoned up here. It wouldn't  be JJJ without a finger pointing hand. He has a fist for his left.

Some close-ups. The eyes were well done. There's a bit of shading underneath his eyes. It helps make them seem more sunken. The grey on the side of his head is a little too thick.

Accessories. JJJ comes with an alternate head and a set of open hands. The included BAF part is the left arm of Armadillo.

His alternate head has him looking like he's yelling. I can just imagine him chewing out his colleagues. Or cursing at Spider-man. Love it!

The open hands are very flat. I don't think they'll be used that often. Unless he needs to slap someone. I would have preferred if he came with gripping hands instead. He wears a ring on his finger.

It can also be seen on his left fist.

Articulation

Jameson has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. The ab crunch can hardly be used due to the jacket.

Dr Strange has a dumbbell joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint waist, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down a little. The elbows have good enough range. They don't go all the way due to the sculpt. There's hardly and forward bend or side tilt at the waist. He can bend back a little. The skirt restricts leg articulation. He's not going to be able to do much more than walking.

Comparison shots.

Great figures. I like both of them. Thanks for viewing!
