GIJoe Classified Series Duke and Scarlett

Yooooo Joe! The line which I've been excited for and dreading at the same time is finally here! Why dread? That's cause of the dents it'll make in the budget... First up Duke and Scarlett.

The packaging is bright and attractive. I love the image on the back!

GIJoe is back! The figures are now in the 6" scale and have updated looks. I was quite annoyed when I first saw how they looked online. I didn't like the shiny armoured elements. With the figures in hand my stance has softened. Thanks in part to the great detailing and articulation. They look pretty cool while still retaining some semblance to how they did previously.

Duke typically leads the GIJoe team in missions. He is a seasoned soldier and it shows in his head sculpt. He has a tough, rugged appearance. There's a painted scar near his right eye. I don't recall him having one in the cartoons. If you know how his scar came about do let me know. There's great detail for his buzz cut. His hair is slightly longer at the top and the shaved areas is textured. The best thing is it's got some shading in it which brings out the detail. Nice! There's great detail for his attire. It has pockets, you can make out the seams and it has quite a bit of creases and wrinkles in it. The rolled up sleeves were sculpted. He wears an elbow pad on his left arm. I would have preferred if he didn't. But if he must he should have one on his right side as well to balance things up. The bright orange watch is probably the thing that most annoys the most me for its colour. It's quite distracting. Near his right shoulder is the winged pin which he always wear. His pants is textured and has good detail as well. The shin guards were stuck on. They were only stuck on at the bottom half. This allows him to have usable boot swivel. The blue lines on the shin guards and knee pads resemble light glow. You wonder if they are electronic and what purpose they perform. The holster and belt are separate pieces and they too have great detail on them.

Some close-ups of his head. Love the head sculpt. I like the blend of colours of his shaved hair. Some areas are lighter and some are darker. I've put on the bandolier so you can get a better look at his bandolier. It has several pouches on it. I'm not sure what the silver section is. A communicator perhaps. It has some nice paint detail on it.

You know, the head sculpt reminds me of Steve Rogers. So I tried it on the Marvel 80 years Captain America figure. It looks good. The head is just placed on as the neck peg is not compatible. The head is a little small. It's passable.

Accessories. He comes with a bandolier, a backpack, a rifle, a handgun and a pair of binoculars. There's great detail on the backpack. It has two water bottles, several pockets and has quite a bit of creases in it. I would have like if it had a bit of paint detail to break up the plain green colour. The spade is not removable. The backpack pegs onto his back. You'll need to slide the bandolier out of the way in order to do so. The rifle looks to be a laser rifle of some sort. I like that it's not just one colour and it has paint detail on it. The handgun may be stored in the holster on his leg. The binoculars may be pegged onto his belt.

It takes some effort to get him to hold and use the binoculars properly but it's doable.

Next up Scarlett.

Scarlett is a great looking figure. The head sculpt is nice. She looks confident and has a hint of a smile. There are freckles on her face. I didn't know she had them. The hair has nice detail. I recall it being red in colour though. Maybe they decided to change things up. She's decked out in her familiar yellow and blue, and in quite a bit of armour. The gold areas have a metallic shine to them. I think it goes well with the yellow and red. The blue "light glow" is present on them as well. I'm now really interested as to what use they have. There appears to be thrusters on the back of her boots. Maybe she's able to fly with them. The bluish area looks to be a padded suit of some sort. The design on it was sculpted. There are sculpted throwing stars on her left bracers which is nice to see. Her pants are textured. The belt is a separate piece.

Close-ups of her head. The settings are a bit bright but you should still be able to make out the freckles on her face. She has that same blue circular thingy as with Duke on her right shoulder. I'm now pretty sure that it's some kind of communicator.

Accessories. She comes with a pack of crossbow bolts, her crossbow which is comprised of two parts and three knives. One knife is shorter than the other two and it may be stored in the sheath on the strap of her pack.

The other two knives may be stored in the pack itself. With the knives stored there and with her ponytail they hinder her turning her head.

Articulation

Duke has a ball hinge upper neck, ball joint lower neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge right wrist, swivel and up and down hinge left wrist, ab crunch, ball joint waist, ball hips on an up and hinge, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down very well and can even tilt his head. The torso joint along with the waist joint allows him to bend forward and back really well. There's not much body tilt though.

Scarlett has a ball hinge upper neck, a ball joint lower neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, swivel hinge elbows, swivel and up and down hinge right wrist, swivel hinge left wrist, ball joint torso, ball joint waits, ball hips on an up and down hinge, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. She can look up and down well, just that you will have to bend the ponytail which is flexible. The elbows bend slightly less than ninety degrees. She can bend forward a little, she can arch back more.

Comparison shots. They are more in scale with the MCU Marvel Legends.

Great figures! The have great sculpts and great articulation. And I'm also liking the accessories they come with. Seeing the bright and different colours take me back. They look to have stepped out right from a cartoon. And I do hope there will be a new GIJoe cartoon. Thanks for viewing!

Nice review! I just got these two on Friday (they're the only figures from the line in stock on Amazon) and I do like them. The slightly futuristic elements don't bother me a bit (I loved G.I. Joe Sigma 6) but I do wish they had a few more weapons. Scarlett could really stand to have a pistol and a sniper rifle in addition to her crossbow and Duke could really use a couple of grenades. I'm excited for this line though I really hope it doesn't become a variant fest like most other G.I. Joe lines tend to do.

Awesome review and great photos as always. Looking forward for what comes in Wave 3, since 2 was already announced. Really need a basic Cobra trooper to start army building.
