Marvel Legends Series MCU Black Widow & Thor (Cull Obsidian BAF Series)

New Marvel Legends in hand! Here's a look at Black Widow and Thor from the Cull Obsidian BAF series. Warning post may contain minor spoilers.

I'm really stoked for this Black Widow figure as it looks to be the best version yet! She has a great head sculpt. The likeness is superb. And the paint apps for her lips and eyes are excellent. There's nice detail in her hair and its got a bit of light brown shading in it. Very nice! She wears a vest in Infinity War. It gives her more of a mercenary kind of look which I think suits her being under the radar and all. I think Hasbro did a good job with the it. It's a separate piece and it's not too bulky. I like the colours and I especially like that the studs and zippers were painted with silver. The vest is removable and underneath is an all new body.

There are tabs on the side of her vest which you unpeg. Not that you'll need to. The pegs don't work well and her left side may look bloated at times. You'll need to remove her head in order to remove the vest. Once off we'll see Black Widow in her more familiar look. Her costume looks to be the one she was wearing in Civil War. Nice! Two versions of Black Widow with one figure! We'll need to custom or modify a Black Widow head with red hair if you like to get the Civil War look. The previous heads don't work well on this body. There's nice sculpted detail on her costume and it's textured. I'm annoyed that the Widow logo has a blemish. Fortunately it's not too noticeable from a distance.

Accessories. Black Widow comes with an extra pair of fists, a long baton and two disk shooters. The baton may be separated to become two batons. The included BAF piece is the torso of Cull Obsidian.

I didn't know that the two small black objects were disk shooters initially. I found out that bit of information from the Hot Toys site. I don't recall her using them in the movie. They kinda look like tasers. The disk shooters may be stored in her thigh holsters.

Next up Thor.

If you watched Infinity War you'll know how he ended up with this look. It's actually not that different from when we last saw him in Thor: Ragnarok. The same is true for the figure. He's similar to the figure from the Infinity War three-pack. The head sculpt is the same, less the eye-patch and with a well painted artificial right eye. He's got new plated sleeve arms. The torso is modified. His cape is stuck on from the first pair of round studs. Speaking of which the studs here are gun metal in colour. The plated front of his boots are dark gold with a little black wash.

A close-up of his head. Here you can better see his eyes. You can tell that his right eye is an artificial eye as it lacks the pupil and has a shiny tint to it. Click images to enlarge.

Accessories. Thor comes with Stormbreaker and a lightning effect piece. The BAF piece is the left arm of Cull Obsidian.

There's good detail on Stormbreaker. I like the design on the blade. I would have liked if it had a bit more paint detail, especially on the handle. The handle is a little too big for him to grip and it tends to drop off when posing.

The lightning effect piece is meant to be used with Stormbreaker. You can use it on his hands. It just needs some adjusting to find the right spot. This effect piece is of a darker tone compared to the one from the Valkyrie two-pack.

Articulation

Thor has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down well. The hips are very loose on my figure which is a bummer. His cape gets in the way of some poses.

Black Widow has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. She can look up and down well. Utilising the torso joint and/or raising her left leg will cause her vest to become unpegged.

Comparison shots.

Both great figures. Thanks for viewing!
