Just some pics of the Marvel Legends Groot Evolution figure. This is a Toys'R'Us Exclusive and it showed up locally some weeks back. A big thanks to a friend for helping me snag one!
Groot's legs are separated so he can fit in the standard sized packaging.
Groot is pretty much the same figure as the previous MCU Groot BAF. He's got a new head sculpt. And the colours used are of a different tone. I think the colours are better this time round. There's some dark brown shading and has a fair amount of green wash. He does not appear as "plasticky". The green along with his bright eyed, smiley face makes him seem more youthful to me. The gold eyes were well painted and stands out well.
A quick comparison of the head sculpts. I like this one more for the cheerful expression and eyes. I also feel that it has a better likeness. The previous one looks annoyed and looks like he did not get enough sleep with those rings around his eyes.
He does not come with any accessories but included are two small figures. One of which is Groot in a pot while the other is Baby Groot based on his upcoming appearance in GOTG Vol.2. Both have some nice sculpted detail. They being younger versions have not much bark detail. They both have some green wash. It appears though that they had a messy painting session as opposed to it being moss.
Only the default Groot has articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, peg hinge hips (Y), swivel hinge knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can hardly look up or down.
Comparison shots.
I didn't really want another default Groot figure. But I just had to get the two small figures of him. Thanks for viewing!
