Woohoo! Watched Star Wars today! I know you don't want spoilers so I'll just say that it's good. Here's one of the main characters from the show, Kylo Ren.
This figure is from the Black Series 3.75" line which now runs at a higher price point. The figures are better and feature more articulation. What really annoys me is that we were getting these kind of figures just a couple of years back, and they were cheaper too. I know you've probably heard this before but I just felt the need for that little rant. It's also a good thing some toy stores brought them in otherwise I'll be looking at an even higher cost factoring in shipping.
Right. Kylo Ren is a neat figure. It's not as bulky looking as the 6" version due to the sculpted torso. The torso however is also what spoils the figure a little. It makes it seem like the top and lower robe are two separate pieces when it's not supposed to be. Still, I quite like the look. There's great sculpted detail on the torso and arms. The belt buckle too has good detail. I like the soft goods lower robes. They did the length of it better than on the 6" version. It's not as messy. Underneath he has a sculpted inner "skirt" piece as well. The head sculpt is nice. The hood will definitely hold its shape. The hood and the "scarf" portion is actually one piece and is textured. His mask was well done and well painted. Gloss black was used for the visor and it helps it stand out.
Accessories. He comes with two of his lightsabers, one ignited and one not. The hilt of the ignited one is darker than the non-ignited one.
Comparison with the one that came with the Forest Mission figure. This lightsaber (below right) has a little more detail, is darker coloured and has paint detail.
Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel and weapon hinge (up and down) wrists, waist rotation, ball hinge hips, swivel hinge knees and ankle swivel and hinge. There's not much head rotation due to the scarf. The hip joints are attached upwards into his body. You need to rotate the leg before you can have him raise it.
