Marvel Legends Series Fantastic Four Retro Card Mr Fantastic & The Thing

Here's a look at the Marvel Legends Retro Card Mr Fantastic and Thing.

There's not much to say about Mr Fantastic. He's basically a repaint of the Walgreens figure.

Some close-ups of his face.

The head sculpt is the same as with the Walgreens version. There are some paint differences. I like the brighter and fairer skin tone on this new one.

There's a loose bit of hair which is more visible now. His hair is shorter. They painted the flesh tone just above his ears. He of course has the grey hair at the side. The grey looks to be printed on rather than painted on on this figure.

Accessories. He comes with a lab coat, arms to go with the lab coat and a pair of hands with stretched fingers. The hands may be used with both his costume arms and lab coat arms.

Here's how he looks with the lab coat on. The arms reuses the young MCU Nick Fury arms. He spends an awful lot of time in the lab so this is a nice inclusion.

The lab coat may be used with the previous Mr Fantastic figures. However the arms will be very loose on those figures. Hasbro just loves to make things difficult for us. Be it using different sized pegs or making them a different length... The hands of the previous figures are also not that compatible but it's possible to push them in.

Next up, Thing.

Thing reuses the same body we've seen previously with a new head sculpt and trunks. I'm glad they gave him the trunks instead of reusing the shorts as this was his look at that time and also in the 90s cartoon. It's well sculpted and has some wrinkles in them. There's some light orange shading on his body, notably across his chest, on his upper arms and on the top of his feet. It blends quite well with the darker orange of his body and it's not as noticeable as on the figure from the Super Skrull BAF wave.

The new head has a flatter brow which extends over his eyes. I don't really like the look. I prefer him with the more distinct brow, like on the previous two figures. Thing looks really friendly. You know the phrase "ever lovin blue-eyed Thing". This figure best represents that I feel. The eyes were well done. They were painted looking to his left unfortunately. There's no teeth visible, just like how he appeared in the earlier comics.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate angry head and a pair of fists.

It's clobberin' time! The alternate head has him looking pretty mad with gritted teeth.

Articulation

Thing has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, diaphragm joint, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Mr Fantastic has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Comparison shots.

Great figures! If we do get another round of the Fantastic Four I would like the get the Future Foundation costumes. Thanks for viewing!

Awesome reviews. by the way, how much of a color differences of blue paint between the retro reed and the Reed from early hasbro ronan wave? I'm curious to see how it matches up.
