Marvel Legends Series The Man Called Nova

The man called Nova!

This is Nova in his classic costume. I hate to say but he looks rather lacklustre to me. I guess it's due to colours, the dull shade of gold especially. I would have preferred a more vibrant tone. Then there's the head sculpt. His expression is neutral and rather generic looking. He'll make for a good troop builder. The helmet is okay. Just watch out for the swirly lines if you're able to choose your figure. The body features some new parts, such as the torso, hips and boots. Nice! The arms and legs reuses those from Bucky Cap. This combination makes him a little taller than Bucky Cap. The bracers on his forearms were painted on. They design on the front was well done. As for the back... they somehow did not paint on the star burst...

Some close-ups of his head.

Here's a head swap with the previous version. The head will fit but he won't have much of a neck.

Accessories. He comes with a pair of open hands for flight poses, Qubit and a stand.

I know almost nothing about Qubit. According to Wiki, Qubit is a synthorganic being, one of the Manufactured Harmonites. He is one of the Nova Corpsman secretly recruited by the Xandarian Worldmind. There isn't much more info than that. If you're familiar with the character do fill me in.

Qubit basically looks like a Nova Corps helmet. Too bad he's not hollow otherwise we can use him to make another Corps member. There's a hole underneath which is where he can be placed on the stand. My piece has quite a bit of the swirly lines on it which spoils his look. I wish they could have done some articulation for his "arms".

Just for fun. I don't think there's supposed to be a jet underneath him but you can certainly do that if you like to illustrate motion. The repulsor effect will fit.

Since no unmasked head is included we'll have to find one ourselves. Multiple Man's looks decent enough.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down really well. The ab crunch allows one click forward and one click back. The line deco at his ab joint wasn't painted all the way in so there will be a visible gap when he arches all the way back.

The shoulder pads will follow the arms when they are rotated, making things look awkward. A good thing is that the shoulder pads can be rotated as well so that we can position them back to the top. The shoulder pads are flexible and allow for his arms to be raised.

Now for the action shots.

Comparison shots. I don't have the figure from the Nemesis wave so I can't compare that for you.

Nice figure. A little dull but am still happy to have him. Thanks for viewing!

So happy to see you back posting again! Love your stuff and Nova looks great. Love the Quibit pic with the blast effect.

That shot with the New Warriors reminded me that we've never had a Speedball figure

Thanks all!

@micksepp - Thanks for your kind words! I'm unable to post regularly like I used to. Will do what I can when I can.

@Tom Boy - That's true. With several New Warriors out hopefully we'll get one.
