Marvel Select Gladiator Hulk

Yeeeeeeessssssssss!!! I've finally got the Marvel Select Gladiator Hulk!

This is a much sought after figure and it's not difficult to see why. The Hulk is simply an awesome figure with a great amount of detail. He's nice and big too which is how he should be. The figure is based on his appearance in Thor: Ragnarok. He's got a great head sculpt. The likeness is good. There's a bit of dark wash on his face which makes him look dirt covered. The markings were well done too. I'm a little annoyed the eyes were painted looking up. His hair has good sculpted detail and has some shading in it. It looks a little long though. I recall he had quite short hair in the movie.

They did a terrific job with the body. I love his textured skin. It appears tough and hardened. They applied a light brownish wash on him which helps bring out the sculpt and at the same time give him a bit of a battle worn look. Very nice! The white markings are dirt covered and scraped off his some places. His chest hair was sculpted and has some dark shading applied on it. The straps, wrappings and the plating on his left arm were all sculpted. I love the look of the plating. It truly looks like rusted metal. The shoulder armour and harness is one separate piece. The shoulder armour too has a tarnished and rusted appearance. The harness section is textured and has some nice paint detail applied. I would have liked if the harness were removable. Actually I think it might be possible but it will involve a lot of work and frustration. The "skirt" section is a separate piece. I love the paint detail on it. Underneath it he's wearing what looks to be leather like shorts. Nice! The roman sandals were sculpted on. Metallic bronze was used for the studs and the sandals have a muddy, dirty appearance.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate helmeted head, an extra pair of fists, a hammer and an axe.

The helmeted head looks great! The helmet has great detail on it and has a tarnished, rusty appearance. I love how the crest turned out. It really looks like hair and again they did a great job with the paint apps. His eyes were painted looking up as well on this head...

His weapons too have good sculpted detail. There are chips and dents on them, as well as a dirt wash which suggest they have seen some used. Stiff plastic was used for them so there's no issue of warping here. Hulk can grip them okay. The grip in his left hand is a little loose though. And another thing is the head of the hammer seems to be loosely attached to the handle on my piece.

Articulation. He's got a dumbbell joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, elbow hinge, swivel and up and down hinge gripping hands, ball joint torso, waist rotation, peg hinge hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look down well and also cock his head. He cannot look up much. With the helmeted head, he cannot look up at all. The shoulder armour hinders his left arm articulation. Raising his left arm too much will make the shoulder armour look awkward. The fist hands have swivel and hinge.

Comparison shots. He's bigger and stands at least a head taller than the Marvel Legends version. I went and checked Ragnarok images online, Thor stands around the Hulk's chest so I feel this scales better with the ML MCU figures.

Great figure! Highly recommended. This version is like a raging fire. The Marvel Legends version is like a smouldering fire. Thanks for viewing!
