Mafex Batman V Superman Batman

Here's a look at Batman based on his appearance in Batman v Superman by Mafex.

I should have passed on the Mattel figures and waited for this. The Mafex Batman is a much better figure. Check out the sculpted detail. Practically his whole costume is textured. Great stuff! The knuckles area of his gloves and the toe cap of his boots are plated. I like the brass colour used on them. And also on the belt. The belt has various pouches and if you look closely you can see that the belt strap is textured. Very nice! He wears a soft goods cape. The material is kinda like the material used for an umbrella. They did it quite well. The bottom edge is tattered. The sides have a bendable wire sewn in so we can pose it. I'm a little disappointed with mine as part of the wire is sticking out. And I would have liked the cape to be bigger so it can wrap around to the front. I think he has a good head sculpt. The paint apps for his skin perhaps could be better. It comes across as dirt on his face to me rather than a five o'clock shadow. His eyes are white which you may not be able to see in the pics. The neck section looks a little too thick to me. I also would have liked his torso to be a bit bigger.

Accessories. He comes with several extra pairs of of interchangeable hands. There's a pair of gripping hands, gun holding hands, open hands, batarang gripping hands and a pair with two fingers extended which I like to call the "reveal" hands. I'll explain why later. He also comes with a grenade launcher, a batarang, a grapple gun, a smoke grenade, a base and a stand.

Just to better show you some of the above accessories. The batarang hands were sculpted with the thumb slightly above the first finger. The gap allows the batarang to be placed in between them.

The gun holding hands are of course used to hold the weapons. The grip is quite tight and requires some fiddling to get him to hold them. The grenade launcher has great sculpted detail. I think it is a little small in size though and it could use some paint detail.

Speaking of paint detail I like what they did for the grapple gun.

Earlier I spoke about "reveal" hands, the ones with two fingers extended. I think they are for when he slowly reveals what's in his hands. In this case the smoke canister. Or the hands could simply be for him to do the peace sign.

He's got great articulation. There's a ball joint upper neck, a ball joint at the lower neck, ball hinge on a ball joint shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, revolver joint wrists, ball joint torso, ball joint waist, ball joint hips on a hinge, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down very well. He can even cock his head.

Comparison shots.

Great figure! Fantastic detail and great articulation. Thanks for viewing!
