I've left this three hanging for awhile. I thought I'll finish them up first.
It's nice that Hasbro is making some Alpha Flight characters again. I just hope they complete the team. Guardian is a significant upgrade over Hasbro's previous attempt. He looks pretty good. He reuses the Spider-UK body which I think suits him. The paint apps are not great. There's quite a bit of red bleeding, notably ate the maple leaf area. The head sculpt is decent. His expression is odd. It seems like he's biting his lip. Maybe he's doing that because of the noticeable mould line running down just on the left side of his head.....
He does not come with any accessories. The included BAF part is the torso of Wendigo.
Next up, Wolverine.
This is the X-Force Wolverine. It's a version Hasbro has done before but this time he is of the proper size and height. The body reuses the brown costume Wolverine body with new boots, claws and hands. Again the paint apps are a let down. My figure has a notable spot of black missing on his left leg. He does not come with any accessories. The included BAF part is the head of Wendigo.
New hands and new claws. These claws are bigger than what we've seen previously. They've sometimes been drawn this way in the comics. I'm more of an old fashion guy and I prefer the thinner claws. The claws are not removable, unless I was doing something wrong. I tried removing them like you would with the old set but I only succeeded in causing a stress mark...
Lastly, Wendigo. Here's the parts list:
Head - Wolverine
Torso - Guardian
Right Arm - Mister Sinister
Left Arm - Nightcrawler
Right Leg - Cannonball
Left Leg - Boom Boom
Just which Wendigo is this? I tried looking it up but could not find any pics resembling this figure. Anyway I don't like the look of him and much prefer the look of the older ones. This version is fierce for sure but he comes across a little cartoony. I do like the look of his teeth. They have a bit of blood on them. I also like how his facial hair came out. The body mostly reuses the Sasquatch body. Wendigo has a new, longer "collar" piece, claw hands, claw feet, a different "loin cloth" piece and has a tail. His fur is white and has some light blue shading applied.

Articulation
Guardian has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot.
Wolverine has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.
Wendigo has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, elbow hinge, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. The tail has rotation. He cannot look up much. He can look down decently.
Comparison shots.
All three are decent figures. Thanks for viewing!
The Wendigo head is based on Art Adams art with the traditional body, so it's kind of "World War Wendigo." They should've provided an alternate classic head.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Had a look at it. I see the resemblance in the head. Would love a classic head version !
