What's this!?! A new toy post? Can it be? Lol. Here's a look at the Marvel Legends Vintage Series 2 Ant-Man and the Wasp.
There's not much to say about Ant-Man. He's basically a repaint of the Walgreens Black Ant. I love the colours. They really pop! He may be wearing the classic colours, but he doesn't have the helmet to match. I would have loved if Hasbro gave us a new head sculpt. One with straight antennas and the circular tubing mouth piece.
Next up the Wasp.
Toy Biz was supposed to release the Wasp in this costume back then. But as you probably know not many pieces made it out and it became quite sought after. I guess this figure is a nod and throwback to that. I'm not too familiar with the costume. From Google it says that she wore this look in the early 2000s. The figure looks nice. I like the head sculpt which is a repaint of Domino's. I think it suits her. I have't been able to find a proper pic of her so I can't comment on the accuracy. The body reuses the same body as the one from the Ultron BAF wave. The wings too are the same. They are just light pinkish purple in colour with this figure.
Oh hey! Sisters!
Accessories
Neither figure comes with any accessories. What they do come with are mini figures of each other. These mini figures are similar to those we got previously in the Marvel Universe line. The Wasp is a repaint. They didn't do a good job with that as you can see.
Articulation
Ant-Man has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.
The Wasp has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. The large wings have swivel and hinge. The smaller pair has swivel.
Comparison shots. I prefer the Toy Biz figure as my classic Ant-Man.
It would have been nice if they had used the Mr Fantastic body.
Both nice figures! Thanks for viewing!
