Marvel Legends Infinite Series Hobgoblin BAF

Halloween already? Here's a look at the Hobgoblin BAF.

Here's the parts list for Hobgoblin:

Spider-girl - head and wings
Spider-woman (Ultimate) - torso
Daredevil - left arm and pumpkin bomb
Spider-man 2099 - right arm and sword
Spider-man - left leg
Anti-Venom - right leg

This is the Phil Urich version of the Hobgoblin. He's a great looking figure. He's pretty accurate to how he appeared in the comics. The upper torso maybe should have more line detail but other than that, everything else looks fine. He's got a great head sculpt. There's a lot of wrinkles on his mask. Those demonic eyes along with his gruesome teeth make for a really fearsome look. The hood is of a good shape and size and is textured. There's good sculpted detail on his body, especially on his abs area. The belt, pouches and the chain-mail portion of his costume is one whole separate piece and is removable. The pouches and chain-mail are quite stiff and they hinder leg articulation. His boots were very well sculpted and look leather like. The paint apps are good. The buckles of his harness, belt and boots were all painted. His knee pads and feet were painted with metallic paint. To top it off , there's some shading on his torso and pouches.

Here's how he looks without the belt and hood. The hood is a pain to remove so I don't recommend that you do it. He kinda looks like a henchman. There's a thought let's get Hobi some troops.

A close-up of his head. Again nice detail on his face. I love the teeth. He could use some shading. The top and back of his head is smooth.

Accessories. He comes with a wing harness, a pumpkin bomb and a flame sword. The pumpkin bomb is translucent and can only be held in his right hand. It falls out quite easily though.

There's another sword attached on his harness. It's great that it's there as that's where he carries it when not in use. It's just the handle and guard portion and it is removable. It's smaller in size compared to the other sword.

A close-up of his activated flame sword. The guard has a neat design. There's a pumpkin in the middle with the sides looking like part of a glider. The blade portion is translucent. It's made of a soft, flexible plastic. He holds the sword better in his left hand. The grip is very loose in his right.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. The head can hardly be moved with the hood. Force it and the head will pop right off. The ab joint is ratcheted and has only two positions. Even with the slits, the "skirt" hinders him from spreading and raising his legs. To try and alleviate it we can raise the belt to his ab area but that would then restrict waist rotation.

Comparison shots.

Hobgoblin has some articulation issues but otherwise is a great figure.  My preferred version is still the classic one. Thanks for viewing!

Now this is a Build-A-Figure I can get behind. I love the head sculpt.
