Jason Wyngarde aka Mastermind reuses the exact same body as Sebastian Shaw and Donald Pierce from the Hellfire Club set. His attire is mainly black. His red vest is clean and lacks the black shading which is present on the vests of his fellow members. The head sculpt shows what he actually looks like, when you are not in one of his illusions. One look and you can probably tell that he's a villain. He has that conniving sort of appearance. He looks rather haggard. He has large pinkish bags under his eyes and his hair is messed up. There's a couple of loose strands hanging down at his forehead. His hair is otherwise very neatly combed.
Some close-ups of his face.
I was thinking what body to use with the default head since he doesn't look quite right in this get-up. Then I spotted the Mobius figure lying on the table and it hit me. It would make a great modern look for Mastermind. Fortunately the head fits.
Accessories. He only comes with an alternate head which you see below. This is the look he wore in his illusions to manipulate Jean Grey. And this is the look I'm more familiar with. The head sculpt is great. The likeness is good. The hair and facial hair look great too. It has some nice detail in it.
Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot.
Comparison shots.
Great figure! A fine addition to the Hellfire Club. I wonder if they'll be making any other members. Thanks for viewing!
Thank you for this! I typically only display one of each character but the nature of his illusion power opens him up to display both Wyngarde and Mastermind - and the Mobius body was what I had in mind! Thank you for the picture, looks like it should work nicely.
ReplyDeleteI might end up swapping bodies for Wyngarde and Shaw - the purple and blue is closer to what Mastermind was wearing in the original Dark Phoenix saga.
Nice addition to the Hellfire club but still waiting on the original classic look to build up that first appearance of Magneto and the Evil Mutants ...:)
ReplyDeleteThrilled that Hasbro is building the Hellfire Club. Now we just need a huge Harry Leland Build a Figure.
