Marvel Legends Series Red Skull & A.I.M Scientist Supreme (Xemnu BAF Series)

Here's a look at the Marvel Legends Red Skull and the A.I.M Scientist Supreme.

Before continuing do note that I did not turn the neck properly in the some of the pics. You'll see his collar slanting to the side which is not correct. Sorry about that.

Red skull here is in his classic look. His attire is basically just a jumpsuit and boots. If you think the body looks familiar that's cause the same body is used for Dormammu which you've seen previously. Without all the added on pieces we can now have a better look at this new body. There's a good amount of wrinkles on his suit and there's nice detail on his belt. The armband with the Hydra logo was painted on. I don't really like the light green hands but this was how he appeared in the comics back then.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate head, a pair of open hands, a pair of fists, a machine gun and the Cosmic Cube. The extra hands are the same ones as those from Dormammu. The included BAF part is the head of Xemnu.

The head sculpts are what really make this figure. Just love them! Both heads were well sculpted and look spot on. The default head with lots of teeth showing looks menacing. And he looks to be happy about something. The alternate head features him with a scowl. He looks more stern and annoyed here. The eyes for both heads were very well painted.

The head from the Iron Skull may be used on this figure. It looks good on him, just that there'll be a very noticeable colour difference between it and the neck.

I like the painted Hydra logo on the gun.

Next up the A.I.M Scientist Supreme.

There have been several Scientist Supreme throughout the years. I'm not familiar with any of them. So from Google this is probably Andrew Forson. His suit has the trademarks of an A.I.M operative. There's the giant helmet, and the yellow and black colours. In his case, gold instead of yellow. A difference from the troopers is that he wears an armoured suit. He's certainly more protected. The body is a mixture of old and new parts. The torso is new. The arms and legs reuses those from the udon Taskmaster. The torso has good size and bulk to it. The plastic used is the swirly sort so do choose a good piece if you're able to choose. The logo was sculpted on. The shoulder pads are not very flexible but they still allow his arms to be raised somewhat. The belt is a separate piece. It has several big pouches on it. One thing about this figure is that the limbs are quite rubbery, especially the knees. It's quite troublesome to get him to hold a pose.

Here's a close-up of his helmet.

Accessories. Scientist Supreme only comes with a holographic panel. I would have liked if he also came with a weapon. The included BAF part is the right arm of Xemnu.

The translucent panel is really cool! The sections and lines on it were all sculpted.

Articulation

Scientist Supreme has a dumbbell joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle swivel and hinge and pivot. He can look up and down decent enough for me, and he can also tilt his head pretty well. He cannot bend forward of back much. He can tilt to the side quite decently.

Red Skull has a dumbbell joint upper neck, ball joint lower neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel and up and down hinge for the gun gripping hands, swivel hinge wrists for the other two sets of hands, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down well. The ab crunch allows one click forward and one click back.

Comparison shots.

Both are nice figures. Thanks for viewing!

  2. Excellent review and photos, as always! This vintage Red Skull is my most-wanted figure in years. I'm a little shocked they gave us one, but if I'm being honest, Hasbro has done a pretty good job balancing vintage and modern.
