Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary Captain America: The First Avenger Captain America & Peggy Carter

Have been busy lately... and there's still several Marvel Legends items I wanted to get through... one by one I guess. Here's a look at Captain America and Peggy Carter.

I got this set mainly for Peggy Carter. She looks pretty good from the front. The back though made me very annoyed when I first saw those lines running down her legs. Seriously!?! After I calmed down a bit and looked it up, I found out that they could be the lines from her nylons. Er okay... but I think not. They look out of place and awkward. I'm going to see how to remove them. Like I said previously she looks pretty good from the front. She has a decent likeness. Her facial features turned out okay and the hair looks good as well. I like the bit of blush applied on her cheeks. The body is all new. She's wearing the military uniform we first see her in in The First Avenger. The pins and buttons were all sculpted and there's creases and wrinkles on her uniform. The skirt is stiff and does not allow leg articulation. Even though she's wearing heels she's able to stand quite easily.

Here's a close-up of her face.

Because she has limited articulation, I tried the head on a couple of other figures. It'll fit both the Black Widow and Jessica Jones bodies. Not too bad I must say. Her look and hairstyle gives a retro type of vibe.

Cap is a nice figure. If he was released on his own though I might not have picked him up. It's very unlikely he'll get displayed and would only be taken out for specific type of shots. I'm trying to be more selective these days. The head sculpt is good. There is a good likeness. The hair spoils the look a little. It wasn't properly stuck on. It's slanted on mine. With that hairstyle and eyes he comes across a bit like a Ken doll. The torso is new. He's wearing a textured, buttoned up jacket. It has some light brown shading on it, giving it a bit of a worn look. The arms and legs reuses those of the Ultimate WWII Captain America. The harness is also reused from that figure. A personal preference, I feel the whole knee should be coloured in that darkish brown.

The harness is removable and here you can get a better look at his jacket.

Accessories included with this set are Cap's triangular shield, the prototype round shield, an extra unmasked head for Cap, his helmet, a pistol, a machine gun and a knife. The accessories are mainly for Captain America but Peggy may use them as well.

The extra head is similar to the default head. This one though has flatter hair.

Which enables the helmet to be worn a bit lower than with the default head. It still looks to sit a bit high though. The helmet is modified from Ultimate WWII Cap's. This one has goggles sculpted on.

A quick look back at some of the unmasked MCU Caps. The First Avenger and Endgame sculpts are probably the best to me. The two new heads may fit on the WWII Cap body but the neck will look long.

The prototype shield is the same shield we've seen with previous Captain America figures. Just that it's fully silver in colour here. The swirly plastic spoils the look and also the star should not be there.

The triangular shield is similar the WWII Cap's. The design was changed to the MCU design. It has quite a bit of dirt brushed on. It uses straps instead of the peg and clip system. I would have liked if they kept that and also had a hole in the back of his torso so that he can carry his shield. The straps are quite narrow and it needs a bit of wiggling to get it on his arm.

Articulation

Peggy Carter has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint waist, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. She can only look up just a little bit. Her hair restricts that. She can look down okay. The waist articulation allows good body slant but it looks a little awkward when in use. The skirt renders all leg articulation to be  pointless.

Captain America has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot.

Comparison shots.

Both are nice figures. Thanks for viewing!
