Transformers: Age of Extinction Lockdown (deluxe)

Crossing over to another galaxy for a bit. Lockdown has hit stores. Thanks to a friend for picking him up. He's one of the few positives of the movie for me. He's badass and ruthless. He makes Megatron look weak.

Since he's already in bot mode in the package, let's look at that first. The proportions look off. The torso looks fat and the car panels on his arms make him look wider. The visible piece from the back between his legs makes them seem shorter and gives him a stumpy appearance. With the shell of the car on his back, you'll think he's a robot turtle. He looks best from the side. A minor issue for me is that he wears the Decepticon symbol. He may have once been a Decepticon but he's now a bounty hunter with no allegiance. He's got a great head sculpt. There's great sculpted detail and it looks screen accurate. The torso and legs have good detail. He's mostly gun metal in colour with some silver parts. If I recall correctly, I think he was more dark grey. His claw like feet enable him to stand well.

Here's a close up of his face. I would have liked if we got an alternate head or have a face plate to attach to give him his helmeted look. Click images to enlarge.

He comes with a big gun. It's got nice sculpted detail on it. He can hold it well in either hand. It's too heavy for him to hold. A good thing there's the tires on his hips so he can rest his arm there and aim straight. You can launch a projectile from it. To do that you push the barrel out and pull it back in. The missile doesn't shoot far.

A cool feature is that you can put the gun on his head and have his head "transform" into a gun. There's a slot in his head where you can peg the gun in. It takes some fiddling. The peg is a little too large.

So here he is with the "gun face". Very cool. The gun can only be turned just a bit to the sides.

Articulation. He's got a ball joint head, the shoulders can be raised and have ball joints, swivel hinge elbows, 360 degrees bar hip with hinge, swivel hinge knees and ankle hinge. Just to elaborate on the hips, the legs can be raised up and outwards to the sides.

Comparison shots. I borrowed the other bots you see here. He's going to get his butt kicked by Optimus. I recall they were about the same size in the movie. Hopefully there'll be a voyager class version of him.

His transformation is fairly easy. First you turn the arms and legs.

Put the legs together and raise his arms.

Straighten out the back, that is the top of the car.

Extend out the torso and swivel that whole section.

Fold the top of the car over the legs and push the sides in. And you're done.

The vehicle mode is his better mode. It's a Lamborghini by the way. It's very nice and sleek. There are no side windows. It looks a little odd without them.

Underneath it's all nice and compact.

There are two slots on the boot where you can attach the gun. He kinda reminds me of G1 Breakdown like this.

Vehicle mode comparison.

Lockdown's robot mode is okay but the vehicle mode is great. Hopefully they come out with a bigger and better version of him. Thanks for viewing!

  1. That Alt mode.

He'd make for a good head swap into some random Decepticon guy.
