Marvel Legends Series Spider-man 60th Anniversary Renew Your Vows Spinneret Two-Pack

It's time to renew your vows. Or maybe I should say renew your commitment to the line by buying the entire Marvel Universe again! I'm just kidding there but it kinda feels that way of late. On a positive note most of the figures have gotten good updates and Spidey is no exception.

Moving forward the Marvel Legends Series will come in enclosed printed cardboard packaging like you see below. No more choosing of paint apps for us. And you have to hope that the actual figures are in there. I think only the retro lines will continue to have transparent bubbles.

Inside the figures and accessories are held in place by a cardboard insert. And they are wrapped up in waxed paper envelopes like we've seen with the army builder packs.

It's Spider-man's 60th anniversary this year! What better way to mark the occasion than getting some brand new Spider-man figures! I'm really excited for this one as it's probably the best Marvel Legends Spider-man figure yet! His appearance is based on the Renew Your Vows comic series. His costume is of a darker blue here. The logos and the lines on his costume were well done. I don't really like that big spider logo on the front. The figure reuses the Retro card Spidey torso with new pinless arms and legs. The legs are better than the Retro Spidey's. They are slimmer! No more chunky thighs for this fellow. Also the feet features toe joints! Haven't had that on a Spider-man figure in awhile.

I'm not sure if the head sculpt is new. It kinda resembles the Pizza Spidey head, notably the eye shape. The lines are definitely painted differently.

I tried out some head swaps. I picked them out randomly. The following swaps are with Pizza Spidey, Raft Spidey and Spider-UK respectively.

Accessories. He comes with an unmasked head, a set of web shooting hands and a set of open hands.

The unmasked head is the same one which we've gotten previously. The skin tone is lighter on this one and his hair is a greyish brown colour. I suppose it works since he's a little older in the story. The eyes were poorly done. His pupils are all over the place. It's on the top on one side and at the bottom on the other.

Next up Spinneret. Mary Jane is the one behind the mask. She doesn't actually have powers. Rather it's the suit which copies Spider'man's powers and grants her her abilities. I'm not sure about the design of her costume. They kinda look like pyjamas to me. Especially those pants with what do you call it, frilly leg cuffs? They are separate pieces. The body reuses the Madame Hydra body with Shriek arms. They left the holes on the back. I wish they could have patched it up. The costume details were well painted on. They missed out one part though and that is the palm of her hands. They should have the red and white deco as well.

I think she has a good head sculpt. There's a good likeness. She wears a smile on her face and has a pleasant appearance. You can make out some of her teeth in the sculpt. Her lips were well painted. Her mask was sculpted and well painted as well. Her bundled up hair has some nice detail in it. It also has some subtle shading in it which is nice.

Accessories. She comes with an unmasked head, a set of web shooting hands and a set of open hands.

I think the unmasked head is new. Her face is sharper compared to the one that came with Gwen Stacy. She has an older look about her. She looks a little tired. Her facial features were well painted. The hair reuses that from the Gwen Stacy pack in. Liked with the default head it too has some subtle shading in it.

Here's a quick head swap and comparison. I'm liking the look with the older heads more. The eyes are rounder on this new head and the eyebrows were painted straighter.

Articulation

Spider-man has a dumbbell joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, diaphragm joint, ab crunch, ball hips on drop down hinge, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, calf swivel, ankle hinge and pivot and toe hinge. The articulation range is similar to that of the Retro Spidey. The little slot at the back of his neck is also present here so he can look up and down decently. The toe hinge function well.

Spinneret has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, diaphragm joint, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. With the masked head she can look up and down well. Her hair on the unmasked prevents her from looking up. She is still able to look down.

Comparison shots.

Both great figures! Spidey is excellent! Hopefully they will release Annie and Regent! Thanks for viewing!

The Peter in this set is a downsized version of the 12 inch Marvel legends figure that came out six years ago
