Marvel Legends Series Wolverine 5-Pack Cyber, Omega Red & Wolverine

Finishing up the Wolverine 5-pack. Here are Cyber, Omega Red and Wolverine himself.

Friend: Don't you have Wolverine already?

Me: He's got a new hat head.

The head is the best thing about this Wolverine figure. It's a new screaming, angry head and with his classic hairstyle. Oh how I miss seeing the long "horned" hair of his. The likeness is good and the angry expression is so like him. It's the best angry Logan head we've gotten so far. The body reuses the same body which we've seen several times before. He is shirtless. His chest hair looks horrible. It's of varying length and seem to go in all directions. It resembles more like some skin issue than it does hair to me. They left some sections of his body without hair. Most notably the strip across his chest. It's odd that they did that. There are some slashes and cuts on his arms and body. They look okay. He's wearing the lower portion of his brown costume. The colour tones are slightly lighter than on the previous brown costumed figure.

When you just had a section of your chest hair waxed off.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate head and a pair of fist. The fists too have the dotty hair on them.

The alternate head is another new head sculpt for Wolverine. He very much has a beat up look which is odd to see considering his healing abilities. He has a bruised and bleeding right eye, and a bruised mouth. There are also several cuts on his face.

Next up, Cyber.

Big, bad and violent. That's Cyber basically. He is a formidable villain. He has super strength and he has adamantium bonded to his skin which makes him very tough to injure. You probably noticed his metal arms. They are reused from the Marvel 80th Anniversary 2-pack Colossus. His body also reuses that of Colossus. The Astonishing Colossus from the Warlock BAF wave to be precise. The body has a metallic shine to it. I like that they blended in some lighter blue with the dark blue. He's got a nice head sculpt. He has quite a fierce look about him. His head was not bonded with adamantium, hence the wrinkles for his mask and flesh tone face.

Some close-ups of his face.

Cyber does not come with any accessories. If needed he can borrow some fists from Colossus. Colossus's fists are a little more shiny than his arms.

Lastly, Omega Red.

Omega Red is a repaint of the previous figure with a new head sculpt. I'll run through the differences first. His skin tone is whiter, his hair is a lighter blonde, his red suit is of a lighter and brighter red, the harness has white straps with gun metal canisters and gun metal edges for the shoulder pads and he has white boots. The omega symbol on his headband is painted white and there are no omega symbols on the back of his hands. This new figure is more comic accurate for the boots among other things. I still prefer the previous figure for the darker tone of red and the metal coloured tendrils.

I like the new head sculpt with the screaming face. He looks really furious. There's some grey shading around his eyes. It helps his eyes stand out more. It especially brings out the slant and narrowness of his eyes which adds to his furious look. The teeth were sculpted and I like that they even painted in some gums for him. The metal pieces at the sides of his mouth are pearlescent. You can hardly see it from a distance. I think this looks better for him. If they were painted a metallic colour he'll look like he just came from the dentist. Like how the previous figure looks. The hair reuses the same hair as before.

The new head will of course fit on the previous figure. There is some noticeable difference in the skin tone but I'll still use it anyway. I really love this screaming head.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate head, two short tendrils and two long tendrils. The tendrils are all white in colour. I prefer the steel coloured ones from the previous figure.

The alternate head is the same one as from the previous figure. It has the grey shading around the eyes and the pearlescent metal pieces on the sides of his mouth. I like the look of the new heads a lot better. I'm going to use both on the old figure.

I swapped his harness around. I think each look better this way. The gun metal on the new harness goes better with the steel coloured tendrils.

Articulation

Wolverine has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Cyber has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, elbow hinge, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Omega Red has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Comparison shots. This Wolverine has a fairer complexion.

Cyber is okay. I don't really like the character much. I like the heads of Wolverine and Omega Red. If you asked me if this boxset is worth it I'll say it's just about. I got three new characters and some nice head sculpts. Thanks for viewing!

Guess the reuse and repainting helps to keep the cost of the figures down and maximizes the tooling budget. So down to how you want to collect and if you want multiple iterations of the same character with slight changes.

Cyber has been on my want list for a long time mostly based on his appearance in Wolverine's solo series in the 90s. The figure is simple but seems to do the trick - the color on him is perfect and really pops. Omega Red is unnecessary to me as it's not an improvement over the previous release but I do like the idea of swapping harnesses so the metals match his tendrils. Thanks for the reviews!
