Diamond Select Toys Netflix Castlevania Alucard & Sypha Belnades

Finishing up DST's Netflix Castlevania Series 1. Here are Alucard and Sypha.

Sypha. Simply gorgeous! The likeness is spot on and I like her intense and confident look. I also like the detail and shape of her hair. I can imagine her in the midst of casting a spell. Her attire looks great too. The collar and a section of her robes is a separate piece and is removable. You'll have to remove her head in order to do that. As part of her robes hang over her shoulder removing it will allow her to raise her arms fully. If only enabling her leg articulation was just as easy. The black "skirt" section restricts all her leg articulation. The "skirt" is also pegged / stuck to her thigh. I guess to keep it in place. A good thing she's able to stand well.

Just love her look!

Accessories. She comes with several sets of hands, as pictured below. I love the spell sign hands, especially those with the spell effect attached. All of the effects are of her ice spells. I would liked if they included some fire spell effects as well.

Alucard too looks great. Again the head sculpt here is good and he looks fierce. The eyes I feel are a little high but it's a small issue. There's a good amount of detail in his attire. You can see the wrinkles on his shirt and pants. I like the look of his long coat with the gold trimmings.

A close-up of his face. You get the feeling that he's looking down on you.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate head, two sets of gripping hands, three sets of open hands, his sword and sheath and a flaming sword. I can't recall when he used a flaming sword, I'll have to re-watch the series to check.

The gripping hands are very similar. One set has a slightly larger than the other. The handle of the sword is thin and the grip is loose with the larger set of hands.

Alucard's hands may be used with Trevor if you don't wont to cut out the knives from his set. The black gloves look pretty good on him I must say. If you like you could paint them skin tone to match but I think that's troublesome.

A closer look at Alucard's alternate head. With his gaping mouth he looks like he's in mid-sentence. I'm guessing that it was meant to have the vampire fangs showing but the execution was poor. If you look at the sides of his mouth you can see the white running down... Click images to enlarge.

Articulation

Sypha has a dumbbell joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, peg hinge hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. She can look down. She cannot look up. She is able to cock her head. Raising her arms will raise the whole collar section, even with the left arm, thus making her looking awkward. There's hardly any bend at the elbows at all. What you see in the pics is the maximum they will go. All articulation waist down is not usable due to her attire...

Alucard has a dumbbell joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, peg hinge hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look down a bit but not up due to his hair. Head rotation is hindered by his hair and collar but he's still able to turn a decent amount. What you see in the pics is the maximum his elbows can bend. There's hardly any bend for the torso joint. He can only raise his legs as much as you see in the pics.

Comparison shot of the three characters.

The figures all look great and come with a number of parts and accessories. The frustrating thing about them is the articulation... Thanks for viewing!
