DC Collectibles The New Batman Adventures (TNBA) Robin & Nightwing

Two more members of the Bat family from The New Batman Adventures, Robin and Nightwing.

It's hero time. I believe Robin was the first animated character to coin that phrase. I like his enthusiasm. Tim Drake is behind the mask here. His costume is mainly red and black with yellow. The figure is pretty good. It certainly has the look. He's got a case of Popeye arms though. I'm not fond of the painted red at the top of his arms. I can see why they did that. But I think it would be better if it were fully black. As it is the red slant design will change position when you move his arms. The paint apps are poor on my figure. There's some red slop on his belt and they missed the mark for the sculpted R.

Accessories. He comes with a grapple gun, a batarang, a pair of handcuffs, an extra pair of gripping hands, batarang throwing hands and a right hand with the grapple gun sculpted, a stand and base. I'm disappointed he did not come with a pair of fists.

The cuffs cannot be opened and can only fit on characters with small wrists such as Poison Ivy.

I love the head sculpt of Nightwing. I think they nailed it. The mask and eyes were also very well painted. There's not much to say about the body. It's mostly plain, smooth black. The hands look a tad longish. The emblem looks to be a separate piece stuck on. It's too thick for my liking. If I remember correctly it was much more flat in the show.

Nightwing comes with a pair of binoculars, a three pronged "batarang", two pairs of gripping hands (one pair bigger than the other), a pair of batarang throwing hands a stand and a base.

He can hold the binoculars with the bigger set of gripping hands. I can't get him to hold it using both hands properly.

Articulation. Nightwing has a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, waist rotation, peg hinge hips, knee hinge and ankle hinge and pivot. He can cock his head and look down a bit. He can't look up due to his hair. He can't lift his legs up much. He really should have some form of leg rotation, that is thigh or calf swivel. There's not many poses he can do and he has some trouble standing.

Robin has a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, waist rotation, peg hinge hips, knee hinge, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. The calf swivel of his left leg is stuck and I haven't been able to move it. In fact I think I might have tore the peg a bit. This despite the freezer and heat method. I think I better leave it as it is.

Comparison shots.

The TNBA Bat family is now complete. Thanks for viewing!

Hi where did you get your batman new animated series figures from?

Hi, they were available at comic shops (G&B Comics, Absolute Comics etc) and Simply Toys. Some of these figures were released some time back. I don't don't if they still have them.
