Star Wars Day 2015 (Singapore): Celebrate the Force

May the 4th be with you! Though today is Star Wars Day a large portion of the celebrations are over. That's because they were held earlier to take advantage of the weekend. The venue was the Suntec City East Atrium. Here's some of the things that took place.

The first 100 attendees each day got a special edition Star Wars tote bag and a Star Wars Digital Collection poster. The queue was well over a hundred and it stretched a long way towards the exit to the Promenade MRT station.

I missed most of the action on the first day but I made sure I was for there for the start of the second. Members of the 501st Legion Singapore, Cathar Outpost Rebel Legion Singapore and Fightsaber marched in to kick things off. The variety of characters is steadily increasing with each event.

A large crowd welcomed the group on stage. They posed for a bit before spreading out over the venue where you could take photos with them.

One place to catch them was at the photo booth. For a donation to this year's charity, Make A Wish Foundation, you could get your photo taken and get a print of it.

The backdrop is that of an action figure packaging. We haven't had that in awhile.

If you were looking for interesting, unique Star Wars art you would have loved the mini canvases and customised Darth Vader helmets by the folks of the Band of Doodlers. All proceeds would go to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Grumpy Cat Vader definitely caught the eye and I hear it was bought up very quickly.

The Band of Doodlers also did some live doodling. Looks like a really cute and fun piece.

There was a showcase of toy photography put up by My Wonder Factory. The works featured were done by various photographers from all over the world. Maybe it's time I took a step in that direction...hmmm.

There was no shortage of toys as we got to view many figures and vehicles from 1977 to the present. A lot of the toys were contributed by Suhaimi's Gulliver's Chronicles and friends.

The following is a list of vintage items on display. Props to the collector(s) for contributing them to the event. You can view more pics in the gallery.

Some of these figures are AFA graded. Check out how clear how some of the bubbles are! You can view more pics in the gallery.

Some of the upcoming Star Wars Black series figures were on display. I'm eyeing that IG-88 and Leia as Boushh. Unfortunately there were none of them for sale.

What was available was the Emperor Palpatine wave. I managed to snag one of him at the Toys R Us booth. Looks like I missed out on the Luke in Stormtrooper disguise...

There was also a table selling older Star Wars items. Nothing which caught my eye though. I was probably too late to catch anything good.

Lego items were available too.

Action City was also present and you could make a pre-paid order for the Hot Toys Spacetrooper. The pre-paid order was only available exclusively at the event.

The stage mostly belonged to Fightsaber who performed on several occasions and conducted multiple sessions of the always popular Jedi Training Workshop. Man why wasn't there a Jedi training academy when I was younger...

Unfortunately I couldn't stay till the end of the event. The event was much better this year and I had a great time. One thing though is that things got very cramped at times. Hopefully there'll be an even bigger venue for next year.

Click to go to the gallery. I took lots of pics.
I've mixed both days' photos together.

May the 4th be with you and thanks for viewing!
