Marvel Legends Series Morlun (Armadillo BAF)

Hasbro has been relentless this past few weeks... The Armadillo wave has now arrived... First up Morlun.

If you read Spider-Verse you no doubt would know who Morlun is. He's a vampire of sorts. Instead of blood he feeds off the life force of others, typically animal related super beings. I had been expecting Morlun to show up in figure form. Spider-Verse has gained in popularity and there weren't too many notable Spider villains left that are yet to be made. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more Inheritors in the future. I would like to get Solus at least.

Morlun is a menacing character and you probably can tell it from his facial expression. He's wearing a sinister looking smile. The brow ridge is bulging and it looks a little too big for my liking. The eyes were well done. They are blood red and the black pupils were well painted on. His long hair is neatly combed. It will restricted neck articulation unfortunately. The body, from the ab area to the legs reuses that of the young MCU Nick Fury body. The upper torso is new. I can't feel the gun holster and the blue scarf and the brooch were sculpted. The vest and coat is a separate piece. The fit is very tight and I can hardly move it. I like the shiny silver of his vest. It really makes him stand out. The paint apps is poor. It's smudged in several areas and you can see the black underneath in some areas. The arms are larger. I believe they are the Happy Hogan arms. I cannot confirm that for you as I'm still waiting for the Happy Hogan set to go on discount. The large sleeve cuffs are separate pieces. I like that they painted the buttons. He has new claw hands. There are "suckers" on his hands which you'll see a little further down.

Close-ups of his head. You can make out some mould lines at the side of his head. And it appears that the head was not "cut out" properly. The edges are quite rough. Fortunately you don't really see it from a distance. Click images to enlarge.

Morlun has "suckers" on his hands. I'm not sure if there's a proper name for it. It's through these that he's able to drain the life force of others through physical contact.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate head. I would have liked if he came with a pair of fists as well. The included BAF part is the right arm of Armadillo.

The alternate head has him looking like he's grimacing and biting his lip. I'm not sure if that was Hasbro's intention but that's how I see it. The head also has the mould lines and rough edges.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, and ankle swivel hinge and pivot. He cannot look up due to his hair. He can only look down a little. The ab crunch is restricted by his attire. It can go almost one click forward and one click back. It's hard to get it to stay in position.

Comparison shots.

Morlun is a nice figure. Thanks for viewing!

  1. Love that last photo. Also, I'm going to have to watch the Into the Spiderverse movie one of these days.
