Finishing up the Bro Thor BAF series. Here's a look at Captain America (Avengers 2012), Vision and the Bro Thor BAF.
I won't be talking too much on Cap and Vision as they're basically reissues of sorts. I must say that Cap looks really nice despite him being on the same body as the previous figure. With the updated head sculpt and colours he looks so much better. The head by the way reuses that from the Quantum Realm Suit figure. While I would have liked if they had updated the body, I don't mind using this figure for display.
A close-up of the of the old and new heads. I love the update. You can actually see Chris Evans behind the mask. Very nice!
Accessories. Cap come with his shield. It's a similar shield to the one we've been getting with recent Cap figures. The included BAF parts is the right arm of Bro Thor.
This shield works better than the one we got previously. With the old one it took some fiddling to get it to look right and the straps are so long they could be seen at times from the front view.
Next up, Vision.
Vision is basically the same figure as the one we got previously. This time the figure was cast in translucent plastic to illustrate his phasing ability. He's the least wanted figure of this series for me. I would rather have got a new character. Like Wong. Vision does not come with any accessories. The included BAF parts are the torso and Stormbreaker for Bro Thor.
Which brings us to the Bro Thor BAF.
Here's the parts list:
Heads - Iron Patriot
Torso and Stormbreaker - Vision
Right Arm - Captain America
Left Arm and Quantum Device Left hand - Iron Man Mark 85
Right Leg - Valkyrie
Left Leg - Heimdall
Seeing "large" Thor on screen was hilarious. Loved it. Didn't expect it. And now we get a figure of him? Cool! Thor looks great! Dare I say he's got the size and bulk. He's wearing a plain, light greyish blue hoodie. There are pull strings hanging down the front and the hood portion can be seen at the back. The robes is a separate piece. You can remove the main body of the robes but he'll look awkward with the sculpted robe sleeves. There's great detail on the robes. It's textured. I like the flowy look to it and how the belt hangs. The robes even has pockets sculpted on. Nice! His pants are baggy. You can make out a lot of loose material on it, especially with how it bunches up at the bottom. And here's something I didn't know, he's wearing slippers. The skin tone of the sides and back of his foot is visible.
Thor comes with two heads. The sculpt of both heads look to be the same. It's just that they added the sunglasses with one. I think he looks great. There's a good likeness. The scar running through his right eyes is visible. I like his bored expression on his exposed face. His unkempt beard and hair look good. And I like that there's some dark brown shading in his hair.
The heads may be used on the Infinity War Thor figure. While the body shape is not accurate I think he still looks pretty good.
Thor comes with Stormbreaker. Sculpt wise I think it's more screen accurate. Especially the handle. It's slimmer and does not have the wrapping. Silver paint was applied at the head and it gives the appearance that metal had melted on top. I'm not sure why they did that. I don't recall it being that way and it just spoils the whole look. The head is of a lighter grey here. It looks a little plasticky. I prefer the look of the previous Stormbreaker.
The Infinity War Thor may wield this Stormbreaker as well but his grip on it is quite loose.
Thor also comes with an extra left hand with the Quantum Realm device thingy. It's unlikely we'll see a Quantum Realm suit Thor figure so this helps in that aspect.
Articulation
Captain America has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, glove swivel, ball joint torso, peg hinge hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.
Vision has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.
Thor has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel and up and down hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down okay. The hair is flexible enough for him to do so. He can hardly bend forward. He's able to arch back and bend to the sides more. The robes are quite stiff and will get in the way of low poses.
Comparison shots.
Cap is nice. Vision is meh. Thor is cool. Thanks for viewing!
(For the above pic he's holding the peg of the glove with his hand.)
So glad they did this Thor. I finally managed to grab the set at a local comic shop - awesome set of characters!
