Hasbro has been merciless this month. Three series of Marvel Legends had just been released and now out come several of the Marvel Studios The First Ten Years (MS10) sets. Please, please let there be a break... Looks like I'll be putting up MCU figures for awhile. Here's a look at the MS10 Thor and Lady Sif.
This here is set number 5 of the MS10 series. Thor and Sif are based on their appearances in Thor: The Dark World.
There's a brief description of a scene with Thor and Sif on one side of the box. On the opposite side are panels of images from the MCU. If you collect the whole series of MS10 you can connect the panels on the boxes together and form one big highlight reel of the MCU. I chose a poor box. I didn't see a corner has been damaged...
The cardboard insert also features panels of the MCU. It makes for a nice backdrop.
Let's start with the Lady Sif. She's a great looking figure. She has a really good likeness. Her hair has a slick appearance. It makes it seem like she just got out of the shower. Still it's the right style and has good detail. I like her armour which has great detail on it. Check out the pattern and design on it. It's really nice isn't it. There's also some sculpted design on her shoulder armour and forearm bracers. Her armour looks shiny in the pics but in hand it's more of a dull shine, if you get what I'm trying to say. It has a little bit of a tarnished appearance. The bit of garment visible at her chest area is textured. It kinda looks like chain mail which I doubt it is. The red dress she wears under her armour is textured as well and has a leather like appearance. Her knee high boots have creases in it and is plated in the front.
The actress who plays Sif, Jamie Alexander has a beauty mark on her face. That's been put on the figure as well. As it should be. You probably would not have been able to make out her hazel eyes above. You can check them out below. Click images to enlarge.
Accessories. She comes with a sword, a double-bladed sword and her shield.
Sif used the double-bladed sword in the first Thor movie. I didn't realise that it was two blades. I always thought that one side was a spear. The accessory is comprised of two swords which you connect together at the handle. The connection is loose and it tends to separate easily on my piece. The handles of the two swords are quite thick and she can grip them well.
Her shield has nice sculpted detail on it and has straps for which to hold it by. The easiest way to put it on is to remove her hand first.
I don't know if Hasbro catered for this but there's enough allowance between the shield and her hand to slide the sword in so she can carry it that way like she did in Thor: The Dark World. Love that she is able to do so.
The single sword is of a similar design to the above two. It's probably the same weapon, but without a hole in the handle or a protruding peg. And we get a more complete looking handle. I like that they included it. The handle of the single sword is thinner and is quite loose in her hand. To tackle this, you can have her hold the centre metallic portion. It however is of an odd shape and some adjustment is needed to have her hold it properly.
I'm not going to talk much about Thor. He's basically a repaint of the Avengers: Age of Ultron figure with armoured arms. There are some paint differences. His skin tone is more vibrant and his hair is of a darker tone. And there's gold detail on this attire. He comes with Mjolnir. It is the same accessory which we have seen before.
Articulation
Thor has a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, wrist swivel with vertical hinges, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.
Lady Sif has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. She can look down but not up due to her hair. Head rotation is hindered by her hair. She will look downwards as you turn her head. The shoulder armour is flexible and allows the shoulder hinge to be used. The skirt is flexible and allows her to lift her legs up decently.
Comparison shots.
Sif is a great figure. She looks good and I like the accessories she comes with. Thor is not really wanted. I would have preferred it to be someone else, like say Malekith. He's one who's still not yet accounted for. Thanks for viewing!
Whoa, I did not know they were already available. Wherever you buy these figures, they are fast! The review is much appreciated! Sif looks great. Thor is pretty meh.
ReplyDeleteYou pictures are, as always, great. However, they have become a bit too dark lately? It's hard to make out darker colors (like Sifs Hair) in front of the dark background.
Can you make a section of face swaps?
ReplyDeleteStar Wars 6" figures 4-Lom, Rey(Island Journey), Range Trooper & Qi'Ra spotted at Toy Rs City Square Mall.
ReplyDelete@Damon - Thank you for your comments and feedback! It's much appreciated. I will make future pics brighter.
ReplyDelete@Unknown - I do do head swaps from time to time where I feel it'll be interesting. Such as on the Pepper Potts / The Mandarin post which I just put up.
@See Thoo - Thanks!
