Marvel Legends Series MCU Ant-Man & The Wasp (Cull Obsidian BAF)

Soon to be seen in Ant-Man and The Wasp is err... Ant-Man and The Wasp...

The Wasp is a great looking figure. There's a great amount of detail on her costume. Some parts of the design was sculpted, and practically her whole suit is textured! Very nice!. The paint apps are great too. The lines are very clean. Based on the trailer I think the colours should be more subdued though. But I don't mind the colour tones as it'll help brighten up the display. I think she has a great head sculpt. It has some nice sculpted detail on it. I especially like the shape and see through visor. I think it has a lot of customising potential. It can be made to used as a motorcycle helmet for example.

Accessories. The Wasp comes with an alternate unmasked head, an extra pair of open flying hands, a backpack and a backpack with wings deployed. The BAF piece is the head of Cull Obsidian.

I think the unmasked head has a good likeness to how she appears on screen. She spots a confident look. The paint apps are excellent. The eyes and lips were done very well. If you look closely you can even make out some eyelashes. Her tied up hair has nice sculpted detail.

I'm not sure if her flight pack is part of her costume of a separate piece which is worn. Here it's a separate piece which pegs snugly into the hole on her back. The pack is where her wings deploy from. You can see them sticking out from the centre, the longish vertical textured section.

Swapping in the pack with the wings deployed. They have a nice wingspan. The wings are translucent and are textured. Each wing is on a hinge and may only be moved up and down. I would have liked if they could move inwards and outwards as well so she can properly fly and not just glide.

Ant-Man is up next.

Ant-Man is spotting a similar suit to the one he wore in Civil War. This suit has less gray in it. With less different coloured seam lines and with more red at the top, he looks bulkier but actually he's not. Like with The Wasp, practically the whole of his suit is textured and there's nice sculpted detail. The belt is a separate piece. It looks a little "plasticky" and I would have liked it to be of the same shiny tone as the bracers on his forearms. The helmet looks okay but I think it is a little flat, especially with regards to the mouthpiece. I feel it should stick out more. The visor of his helmet was fully painted in. I would have liked if his eyes were visible like with The Wasp.

Accessories. Ant-Man comes with an alternate unmasked head. The included BAF piece is the left leg of Cull Obsidian.

Okay I know Scott Lang has quite a wide forehead but this looks off to me. I feel the hair should be lower. And what's with that goofy grin. I know he's a joker of sorts but this is a bit much. A neutral expression would have been preferred. Still, the likeness is pretty good. There's good sculpted detail for the hair and his eyes and lips were painted very well.

I tried the unmasked head on the first Ant-Man figure. The head is too big for the peg and will bobble about  but you know what, it looks pretty good even if you just rest it there.

It's the same with the helmeted head. He looks more screen accurate now with the fully covered helmet.

Articulation

The Wasp has a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. She can look up and down well. The elbows can only bend a little more than forty-five degrees.

Ant-Man has got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down well. The ab crunch allows one click forward and one click back. He can raise his legs quite high, at least ninety degrees.

Comparison shots.

Both nice figures. I like The Wasp more. I wish Ant-Man's unmasked has a neutral expression. Thanks for viewing!

  1. Cool review! The pic with Hope and Scott in civilian clothes is awesome. Does Scott's Head fit well on the Banner-Body? I know he fits well on the Starlord-Body (and the Starlord-Head looks quite cool on the Ant-Man-Suit).

As far as I know, there will be a Scott Lang head with a neutral expression in the "Ant-Man and Yellowjacket" 10 years anniversary pack. I would have preferred that head being included in this single pack of Ant-Man. :(

  2. @Damon - Thanks! Scott's head is quite a tight fit on Banner's body but is doable. The size is fine. Good to know that there will be a neutral expression Scott head coming. Thanks for viewing!
