Star Wars Black Series 6" Imperial Royal Guard

It wouldn't be May without a Star Wars review. Here's a look at the Star Wars Black Series 6" Imperial Royal Guard.

Here's the Imperial Royal Guard out of the package. "Will somebody get this walking carpet out of my way?". The robes are actually not that bad. I stretched it out to see just how big it is. The length of it is fine.

Pull the robes back a bit and we can achieve a decent shape. One which is narrower and follows the shoulders. There's an opening on the right side for his arm. I know this is already accurate but I would have liked an opening on the left as well.

The robes are removable. You have to pop the head first. Underneath he's wearing some armour. Aside from the belt and holster which is a separate piece pegged in, the armour was all sculpted on. There's nice detail on it, and also on his inner clothing. One issue I have with the figure is how weak and rubbery the legs and knee joints are. He has difficulty holding poses. Standing straight is decent, which I guess which is how most of us are going to display him.

Accessories. He comes with a force pike. He can grip it better in his left hand than his right. He typically holds it in his right though. You'll notice that his right first finger is extended. I initially thought it was a trigger finger for his pistol. But looking at some of the pics of the Royal Guard online, some of them do hold it with their finger pointing down along the shaft. Interesting.

He also comes with a small pistol. It has some nice sculpted detail on it. He can't hold it in his right hand. It's meant to be held in his left.

The pistol may be holstered. It's not very secure though and you have to watch that it doesn't drop out.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, wrist swivel and up and down hinge, ball joint torso, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, and ankle hinge and pivot. He cannot look down or up. The head can only be rotated just a bit. The right elbow can be bent almost ninety degrees, the left elbow on the other hand maybe about sixty degrees. He can hardly bend forwards or back. As the knees and legs are weak and rubbery, he can hardly do any action poses.

Comparison shots.

The figure looks decent. I'm annoyed at the rubbery knees and legs but like I said, he's probably just going to be standing around. I'll like to get one more of him so as to make a pair. I have a feeling that it's going to be tough though... Thanks for viewing!
