Star Wars The Black Series 6" Chirrut Imwe (Rogue One)

"I'm one with the Force. The Force is with me."

Chirrut Imwe is a pretty cool character. He kicked some ass in Rogue One didn't he. I kinda wanted him to have had a confrontation with Darth Vader but how the movie went is probably best. Chirrut was of course played by Donnie Yen. I think they captured his likeness on the figure pretty well. I think the cheeks look a little off but the overall look is nice. The eyebrows were sculpted and unfortunately poorly painted on my figure. His eyes on the other hand were well painted. I like the detail for his hair. His attire looks a little awkward and that is due to the combination of plastic and soft goods material for the lower half of his robes. The top half of his attire has some nice sculpted detail and is textured. The white straps across his body is a separate piece. Connected to it and hanging from the back is a long black textured piece of his robes. I don't like it when they do a piece like that as it can restrict some low poses. The soft goods portion is a little big but is required so as to allow some leg articulation. The edges are pretty straight and it was well stitched in areas. I have one major issue with the attire which I'll get to in just a bit.

And that issue is the two dangling loose ends of his robes. I looked up some images online and he indeed has them. The ones on the figure however are too thick and big and are very much an eyesore. I have a good mind to cut them off.

Accessories. He comes with his staff and lightbow. Interestingly the weapons each may be separated into two parts. I don't recall that happening in the movie. It's a pretty cool feature, especially in the case of the lightbow as he can now also use a blaster rifle of sorts. There's great sculpted detail on the lightbow and also some nice paint detail. The two long pieces at the front are on hinges and can spread open when in use. The gnarled staff too has great sculpted detail and I like that the metal bands on it were painted.

The lightbow is typically used two-handed and he can't hold it as well as I would have liked. Also despite his longish pre-posed trigger finger it cannot reach the trigger of his weapon.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel and up and down hinge right wrist, swivel hinge left wrist, ball joint waist, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knee and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down well. The left wrist hinge is restricted by the console thingy he wears on his left forearm. Leg articulation is a little restricted but you can get him a number of nice poses. There is enough allowance in the soft goods robes and it doesn't look awkward.

Comparison shots.

Chirrut is a nice figure. The likeness is good and the range of movement of the articulation is decent. Thanks for viewing!
