STGCC 2016 UPDATE 3 - Third Wave of Pop-Culture Personalities


Star writers Nick Spencer (Steve Rogers: Captain America) and Tom Taylor (All­New Wolverine) cap off impressive guest list! 

Renowned cosplayers like Pugoffka and Haoge slated to appear, with STGCC holding historic first PC eSports competition.

Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) has announced that star comic book writers, Nick Spencer and Tom Taylor, will be making their first appearance in Singapore, on the 10 and 11 September, at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Level B2, Halls E and F. Fans can also experience the vibrant subculture as world­renowned cosplayers Pugoffka and the ever­ versatile, Haoge, grace STGCC’s power­packed festivities.


STGCC to host its first ever eSports PC tournament with Mountain Dew!   


Mountain Dew presents “STGCC eSports – Mountain Dew Cup 2016”, the first ever PC gaming tournament in STGCC. Nick Spencer



























Nick Spencer is a New York Times best­selling, Eisner award ­nominated comic book writer and has worked with Image, Marvel and DC Comics. Nick has been lauded by critics for his creator ­owned series such as Morning Glories with Joe Eisma and The Fix with Steve Lieber. With Morning Glories recently celebrating its fiftieth issue and The Fix being launched to multiple sellouts, Nick’s talent in comic book writing is undeniable. At Marvel, he currently writes The Astonishing Ant­Man, Steve Rogers: Captain America and Sam Wilson: Captain America. Nick’s recent storyline in Steve Rogers: Captain America, revealing that the beloved titular hero is in fact a supervillain, caused an uproar with comic fans worldwide and broke the internet with memes galore on social media.





Tom Taylor


























Tom Taylor, a #1 New York Times best­selling comic book author, playwright and screenwriter will also be gracing STGCC this September. The multi­-award-­winning artist counts All ­New Wolverine, Batman/Superman and Green Lantern among his creations. He is also responsible for Marvel’s Superior Iron Man, DC’s Injustice: Gods Among Us and Earth 2 series, and a host of Star Wars titles including Star Wars: Blood Ties, winner of the Stan Lee Excelsior Award. Tom is also the co­creator, lead writer and executive producer of the CG animation television series, The Deep, based on his Australian graphic novels of the same name.



Give your eyes a visual treat with dazzling cosplay culture

Pugoffka


What’s a pop culture convention without cosplay? This year, STGCC will feature some of the most popular cosplayers from across the globe who are attending the event for the first time! Travelling all the way from Ukraine is world­ renowned Pugoffka. She is also an accomplished cosplay photographer who has conducted more than 700 photo shoots in less than 7 years! The brilliant Pugoffka is slated to be a part of the judging panel at the STGCC Championships of Cosplay this year.



KING


Joining Pugoffka is the popular Taiwanese cosplayer King. A veteran in the cosplaying scene, she has more than 16 years of experience and have no plans of stopping anytime soon. King brings androgynous characters to life with her portrayals of male characters from Boy’s Love series and villain characters from the Shōnen series. King will also be judging at the STGCC Championships of Cosplay.



Haoge


Be spellbound by Haoge’s crossplaying skills ­ a male cosplayer from China who has proven that one does not need to be a girl to be beautiful. Haoge has taken the Internet by storm for his unbelievably stunning portrayals as Minami Kotori from the Love Live! series and Kasugano Sora from Yosuga no Sora. 



Yao & Alma


Fans will also be delighted to know that one of the most famous Taiwanese cosplay pairings, Yao & Alma have been added to the list! With a combined experience of 20 years under their belts, they will amaze fans with their skilful impressions of each character they take on.



Momo


Also from Taiwan, Momo is well ­loved among fanatics for cosplaying as cute and upbeat characters such as Yazawa Nico from Love Live! and Chino from Is the order a Rabbit?. She believes that there is a “cosplay gene” in everyone and lives up to her favourite phrase, “No Cosplay, No Life!”.



Hisui


Lastly, hailing all the way from Hong Kong, Hisui has been in the scene for at least 10 years and is an expert at her cosplay craft. Meet the baby­-faced beauty who will be making her debut in Southeast Asia.

Sticky Monster Lab

Yellowmon, Redmon and Bigmon by SML

Seoul ­based design powerhouse Sticky Monster Lab (SML) will be present at STGCC to showcase their quirky and unique work. Founded in 2007, SML premiered their first creation, The Runners, at Resfest Digital Film Festival, followed by the hugely successful short film, The Monsters, in 2008. Since then, the creative studio has established ‘Monster’ as the key identity of their products. This year, SML is collaborating with Designer Toy Awards 2015 winner, Mighty Jaxx, to produce the limited XXRAY family versions of their trademark character: Yellowmon, Redmon and Bigmon. These toy collectibles will be available at STGCC 2016.



Shoko Nakazawa

Byron by Shoko Nakazawa

In the world of sofubi (soft vinyl toys), the name Shoko Nakazawa, otherwise known as Koraters, is synonymous with her unique and distinct style. Famous for her Byron figurines, she fascinated everyone with its curvy cuteness, selling out the item at every exhibition in Asia. STGCC and the artistic folks at homegrown toy company Flabslab, are excited to bring the Japanese toymaker to Singapore for the first time to showcase her work. Bryon and her other creations will be available at STGCC.
