Marvel Legends Series 6" Ben Reilly Spider-man (Edge of Spider-Verse)

I love the beginning of the year. There always seems to be a new wave of Marvel Legends released around this time. I got my set from overseas by the way. I don't know about local retail. From the Absorbing Man BAF series, here's the Ben Reilly Spider-man.

The packaging has been redesigned a bit. It's branded Legends Series at the top with the titular series name and character name at the bottom. The sides still feature comic images of the characters, in this case Ben Reilly and Spider-Gwen. I like the figures' image on the back with the lighting effect.

I'm quite familiar with the Ben Reilly Spider-man. It was during his run that I stopped collecting comics in favour of toys. I quite like the character, especially the design of his suit. I find it more striking than Peter Parker's. Being a clone the two are alike. The same is true for the figure. This figure reuses the "Pizza" Spider-man's body, including the head sculpt. The web shooters are separate pieces and are removable. I thought they were stuck on at first but they happened to come off as I was replacing the hands. I love the colours. Gloss red and black are used on the torso and legs and they contrast well against the dark blue. The red and black on his head (aside from the eye outline) and shoulders are matte. The paint apps are okay. The lines are straight. There's just some black smudges in some areas.

Accessories. He comes with an alternate Spider-Carnage head and the claw hands to go along. I used the fists in the previous pics. There's an additional pair of web shooting hands and a pair of wall crawling hands. We get the arms of Absorbing Man with this figure. The right arm has partially turned to metal.

I only noticed this as I was fiddling with the figure. The lines on his right thumb were not painted. This particular hand is visible in the package but there's nothing you can do if it's shipped to you. You might want to take note of this if you are able to choose your figure.

Now for a look at Spider-Carnage. You just switch in the head and hands. The head looks to be a repaint of Carnage's. For me the look is not quite there. It really needs some red symbiote lines and tendrils. I tried putting the Carnage symbiote piece on his back but the hole is too small for it to fit.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, chest expansion, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Comparison shots.

Great figure! The Ben Reilly Spider-man was one which sorely needed an upgrade and now we have it. Thanks for viewing!
