One more Batman for you. With a foe in the form of the Penguin.
The first Batman movie was one of the first movies I watched in a cinema. Loved it then, and still love it now. This is my first figure of Batman from that movie. I think he turned out great. I especially love the eyes. His eyes could be seen through the mask and they were very well painted on here. The face paint is a little thin. The black underneath is showing through. The costume is how it should be, with the cape tucked underneath the cowl. He has a soft goods cape with a leather like texture. It covers his shoulders it hinders arm articulation a little, especially when you want him to extend his arm out to the side. You'll need to lift the cape up first in order to do that. The muscle torso piece was well sculpted. The arm guards and boots have nice detail as well.
He comes with a Grapple Gun. It's got nice detail on it. I like that the hook portion was painted gold. It makes it a little more screen accurate. The size of the gun is a little too big though. It kinda looks like a hair-dryer.
The Penguin next. I don't know about you but I found him pretty scary and creepy back then. The figure manages to capture some of that creepiness. He's got a nice head sculpt. The likeness is pretty good. I like the pale skin tone. The paint detail around his eyes and mouth tops it off. I can imagine there's gunk in his mouth. His hair has nice sculpted detail. His hat is not removable unfortunately. His hands are how they should be. Just a thumb, first figure and the other figures bunched together. His gloves are gloss black which helps differentiate them from his coat. His attire is pretty screen accurate. I like that they put the dots on his scarf. They could have so easily left it a single colour. The Penguin is is a great figure overall. There's one downside though and that's his size. He's too big. You'll see what I mean in the comparison shots below.
He comes with his umbrella. An open umbrella I should say. I would have preferred a closed one. The handle and shaft are a little too thick. And I dislike the brown colour. It should be in black or grey. He can only hold it in his left hand. His grip isn't that good and the umbrella tends to tilt. Another thing, after you've put together the umbrella try not to disassemble it. The shaft might break. There are already stress marks on mine.
Articulation. Batman has a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, elbow hinge, wrist swivel, waist rotation, peg hinge hips, thigh swivel and knee hinge. He cannot look up or down.
The Penguin has a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, elbow hinge, wrist swivel, peg hinge hips and knee hinge. He cannot turn his head much due to his vest. And he cannot lift his legs up much.
Comparison shots. As mentioned, Penguin is a little too big and tall. His head should at most reach Batman's shoulder.
Nice figures. Looks like I'll have to track down Catwoman. Thanks for viewing!
