Hot Toys once again had an awesome booth set-up at the Singapore Toys Game & Comic Convention (STGCC). In celebration of acquiring the rights to produce high-end collectible Star Wars figures in the 1/6th and 1/4th scale, they had a Star Wars theme going. I was hoping they might have a Star Wars figure on display but unfortunately there was none. Still there were plenty of other great figures to check out.
Here's the Hot Toys booth. It's the first thing you see upon entering the show floor. Prominently showcased are the life-sized costumes of the Stormtroopers, Sandtrooper and Biker Scout contributed by the 501st Singapore Garrison. The display makes for a great photo spot and this caused the entrance to the convention to be jammed on occasion.
On display were figures from several new and upcoming lines including Back to the Future, Guardians of the Galaxy and the Amazing Spider-man 2.
There were also several awesome dioramas!
It's been all Marvel so far, so here's something DC.
Not three but four Hot Toys exclusives were available this year.
They were:
1) Alien vs. Predator: 1/6th scale Ancient Predator
2) The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale The Joker (Bank Robber Version 2.0)
3) Iron Man 3: 1/6th scale Python (Mark XX)
4) Iron Man 3: 1/6th scale Peacemaker (Mark XXXVI)
Two blind draws, one for the first three and the other for the fourth exclusive were held before the event. If you were lucky to be picked, you could pre-purchase the exclusives. And all you had to do was to collect your figures at any time during the event. No wonder the queue area outside the halls was quieter.
The Iron Man 3: 1/6th scale Peacemaker (Mark XXXVI) was a late addition to the list and was first to be available here at STGCC.
Attendees could also pre-purchase Special Versions of:
1) Iron Man: 1/6th scale Mark III Diecast Collectible Figure (Bonus - Arc Reactor in display case)
2) Back to the Future: 1/6th scale Marty McFly Collectible Figure (Bonus - Guitar)
3) Guardians of the Galaxy:1/6th scale Star-Lord Collectible Figure (Bonus - Handcuffs & Orb)
4) Transformers Generation 1: Optimus Prime (Starscream Version) (Bonus - severed Starscream's head)
By pre-purchasing at STGCC you could get bonus accessories (which I listed beside the names above) with the figures.
With the Star Wars theme going there had to be Star Wars characters.
You could easily find them at the 501st Singapore Garrison and Starwars.sg booth which was located right beside Hot Toys'. There were Stormtroopers, Jawas, Darth Vader etc. When you made a donation to the KK Women's and Children's Hospital Health Endowment Fund, you could Shoot-theTrooper or any character available at the time with a Nerf gun. You could also have your picture taken against a Star Wars Rebels backdrop. Shooting a Stormtrooper was more fun as the darts can stick to their armour.
There were also two dioramas set up by Starwars.sg. One was of the Endor forest made with Lego and the other was a museum of Star Wars vehicles and Disney Star Wars.
As with previous years, there were Easter Eggs to be found. Those in the Endor diorama were a little tricky. I almost missed the Gingerbread Man.
Here's the list of Easter Eggs I found in the Endor diorama:
1) Chicken Trooper
2) Trooper with Angry Birds Pig helmet
3) Halo guy underneath a tree
4) Mermaid near the camp
5) Papa Smurf in the village
6) George Lucas in the village
7) The Simpsons sitting underneath the village
8) Gingerbread Man at the Rebels gathering
9) Indiana Jones in a tree
10) 3 Ghostbusters chasing "ghosts"
11) Jar Jar piloting the shuttle
The Easter Eggs in the museum were very straightforward.
