SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends Thanos Imperative Star Lord

Not quite done with the Guardians of the Galaxy just yet. Here's the Marvel Legends comic version of Star Lord which is part of the SDCC 2014 Thanos Imperative exclusive set.

Here's a look at the packaging. I wish Hasbro would make it more compact. The box is long and it adds to the shipping cost... Anyway it's made to look like the Galactus Engine. The printing is good as you would expect. A cool feature is that the box can be extended at the mouth area and concealed within is Blastaar.

On the other side you can see the rest of the figures in the set. There are wings which are part of the Galactus Engine that fold out.

Theere's a short description of the event in the comics. Click images to enlarge.

This figure is of Star Lord in the uniform he wore a couple of years back. It's the look I am most familiar with. I think Hasbro did an awesome job with it. The head sculpt is excellent. There's lots of nice detail. I love how the eyes and the wavy lines turned out. The helmet looks gorgeous too. I like that it's got dark blue gloss paint which gives it a realistic look. The body is the same as the A.I.M Soldier's with a new belt piece which was stuck on. His uniform is textured and has good detail on it. It's got buttons and has many creases and folds sculpted in. The red lines were well painted on. There's a couple of blue holes showing in the chest emblem, which is about the only negative I have of this figure.

He comes with two pretty big guns. They have good detail on them. He can hold them well in both hands.

I tried on the movie Star Lord's unmasked head with this figure and it fits well. His neck looks a bit long but other than that he looks pretty good.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch , waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Comparison shots.

Great figure! We'll have to mix and match to put together the team for now. Hopefully Hasbro comes through with the announced Guardians of the Galaxy set. Thanks for viewing!

  1. I've been wondering how the movie Star-Lord head would look on the comic book Star-Lord. Thanks for doing it.
