G.I.JOE Retaliation Blind Master

Here's a look at the G.I.Joe Retaliation Blind Master.

Blind Master was played by RZA in G.I.Joe: Retaliation. This figure is based on his appearance in the movie. I think it's got a good likeness. It has a younger look which I think is better. I like the hair and facial hair detail. They are textured. The scar on his face was painted on. The body used is similar to the Retaliation Storm Shadow body. The "skirt" portion of his attire is a separate piece.

He comes with a number of accessories. They include a hat, a mask, the nine ring sword, a flying saw, a staff with a hidden blade, a flute and a base. There's lots of cool stuff here. I especially love the ones with concealed weapons.

The hat has blades which swing out. Or inwards. Lol. This may have been how he became blind.

It's labelled as a shield on the package. It's difficult to have him use it as such. The strap is too long and it won't stay on his arm properly. It's really more suited as a hat.

Here's an idea. You can attach the hat to the handle of the flying saw and get a two ended long range weapon.

The flute is another cool and unique piece.

Articulation. There's a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge wrists, lateral hinge and swivel right wrist, vertical hinge and swivel left wrist, torso pivot, ball hips, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. The lower portion of his attire restricts leg articulation.

Comparison shots. He'll fit in fine with the various G.I.Joe lines.

The figure is okay. The accessories will definitely come in handy. Thanks for viewing!

  1. I agree with your mixed reaction to this toy. The accessories are very compelling, but without them this figure loses most, if not all appeal. I also get a kick looking at those concealed blades under the rim of the master’s hat; they just look silly being tucked that way.

Regardless, this toy set pays an interesting tribute to Master Wu from “Master of the Flying Guillotine.” Considering RZA’s style is heavily influenced by Kung Fu movies, this approach makes sense.
