Here's a look at the G.I.Joe Classified Series Scrap-Iron.
Scrap-Iron is a great looking figure. Loving the look they gave him with the scarring. Has he been shown unmasked before? I don't recall. His attire is similar to his original look. He's got the red vest which is a separate piece. It's got a lot of padding on it. For someone who regularly works with explosive devices, he's going to need it. I like that the pouches and grenades were painted. Also the buckles. The belt is textured and it too is a separate piece. There are straps hanging from it and they help hold up the holster and the strap on his left leg. He wears padding on his elbows and knees. The Cobra logo was well printed on his right shoulder.
Poor Scrap-Iron is disfigured. Notably on the left side of his face where there's significant scarring. There's great sculpted detail for it and it's purplish in colour. Pretty horrifying. He also has a couple of scars of the right side of his face. I'm not sure how he damaged his left eye. There's a scar right down the center. Possibly from a knife attack. His left eye is all white and he is probably blind in that eye. The scarring along with his angry looking scowl gives him a menacing look.
He comes with a number of accessories. The following are those that he can carry. There's a helmet, a pistol and a remote control for his drone.
Now here's the look we are more familiar with. He looks mean!
The helmet is a little tight to put on. Once on it sits too low and covers his nose completely. It can be adjusted and it will stay in position fortunately. The helmet has a nice look to it. The visor is opaque. It has a simplified Cobra logo sculpted at the top and there's some nice detail on the sides.
The remote control has a targeting screen displayed. It has a directional pad sculpted on the left side, a joystick on the right along with some buttons. It has a protective casing. Despite that it looks a little worn. There are two antennas at the top which do not move. Take care not to break them as the attached portion seems a little weak.
The main body of the drone comes in two-parts, the tread portion and the upper launcher section. There's a ball joint on the lower thread portion for you to attach the two together. The ball joint is the only articulation the drone has. The launcher section can be tilted forward and back, and slanted to the sides.
Here's a turn-around of the drone for you. The big square slots are of course where the missiles go. On the front there looks to be a sensor some some light indicators. Some lights on the front. The treads are of a rubbery vinyl material. There's nice sculpted detail on them. It probably could use a wash but I don't mind the clean look. I mean the rest of the drone is clean as well. Just take it as a brand new one.
I forgot to take a pic of the rocket blast trail effect pieces. There are two of them. One long and on short. There's a peg at the white smoke end and it pegs into a hole inside the square slots. The effect piece stays on securely. What's not so secure are the missiles which peg onto the effect pieces. The peg is not long enough. But if the peg is too long then the missile itself will look awkward so I can why it is what it is. We'll just have to use some sticky tack with them. The missiles are red in colour and has the words Laser Guided and X 04 printed on them.
I was asked to see if the upper section is stable. On my piece it is. The missiles can be aimed in all directions and it will hold its position.
Finally there's also some explosion effect pieces included. I feel the white smoke areas were painted too thick.
Putting everything together we can have a scene something like this. Pretty cool!
Articulation. He's got a dumbbell joint upper neck, dumbbell joint lower neck, ball hinge shoulders, butterfly joints, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel and up and down hinge wrists, ab crunch, ball waist, ball hips on drop down hinge, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. The vest restricts the use of the ab crunch. The straps of his vest and leg straps will get raised in some poses and will look awkward.
Comparison shots.
I think this is a good set. The figure is great and the drone is pretty big. Thanks for viewing!
