Marvel Legends Series Jubilee (Caliban BAF)

New X-men figures in the house! First up Jubilee.

This figure pops! I'm loving the bright colour tones. Jubilee looks like she stepped right out from the TV screen. She has a nice head sculpt. She looks spunky and fierce. I know of her more from the 90s Animater Series and I would have preferred a more friendlier appearance for her. Still I'm okay with this. The eyes and lips were well done. And there's nice detail for the hair. The shades were stuck on. I'm annoyed that they did that. It takes away the option of displaying her without the shades. And another thing about the head is that it sits high on the peg and there's actually a noticeable awkward gap at the back. Thankfully her trench coat collar is there to help hide some of it. The body features some new parts. Such as her bright pink shirt, shorts, coat sleeves, gloves and boots. There's great detail on her attire. The logo, studs and seams of her shirt were all sculpted. It has some creases and wrinkles too. The shorts are of the single blue colour. I'm thinking if I should do some dry brushing on it to give it a denim appearance. The trenchcoat is the same one we got with the previous BAF figure.

Accessories. She comes with an alternate bubble gum blowing head and two pairs of shades. I would have liked if she came with some effect pieces. I'm going to have to hunt for another effect piece from Dazzler. The included BAF part is the torso of Caliban.

A close up of the bubble gum head. The sculpt and hair are similar to the default one except that she has an open mouth where the bubble gum attaches too. The bubble gum is not removable. I mean you could probably pull it out but I won't be doing that. The alternate head does not fit the neck peg properly. At least on my piece anyway. It took some effort just to get it on and I think I damaged her left ear which I'm only just noticing in my pics. Hopefully I'll be able to fix it.

The alternate head too has the gap at the back.

One pair of shades is bigger than other. Both are similar in design to the pair on the default head. You'll notice a line going across the shades but you can't really see it when viewing the figure normally.

I was complaining earlier about the shades being stuck on the default head. However after fiddling with the loose shades I'm thinking it might be a good thing. Notice that you don't see the ends of the shades on the default head and everything looks neat.

The following is with the larger pair. It's not too bad but the shape is a bit off already.

Here she is with the smaller pair which looks okay actually. However the shades are being stretched a lot.

Jubilee at times wears her shades up so the following is with the larger pair. Part of her hair juts out and I think this is the best result we can get.

The downside about that is the ends are sticking in her ears.

The following is with the smaller pair. you can see that it's stretched.

Being smaller the ends do not extend quite as far.

If you like you can have her wearing the smaller pair around her neck. It fits.

I tried putting the shades higher but this is the best I could manage.

Comparison with the BAF figure. I prefer the previous version for the friendlier look.

If you're thinking of doing some head swaps, forget it. The peg on this figure is so much bigger... damnit Hasbro...

Articulation. She's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel hinge right wrist, swivel and up and down hinge left wrist, ball joint torso, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, boot swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. She can look up and down well. She can cock her head too. The elbows bend at most ninety degrees. I'm not happy with the hinge on her left wrist. That sort is more for a character with a weapon. For Jubilee it makes things annoying when it comes to posing. She can hardly bend forward or arch back. She can slant her body to the side somewhat.

Comparison shots.

Great figure! Thanks for viewing!

Nothing a dremel and a spare BAF head can't fix. :)
