Admit it mon ami, you've been wanting to see Gambit, no?
Gambit is perhaps my most wanted figure from this wave. He's one of my favourite characters. I really took a liking to him from the animated series. I thought he was cool and I like his powers. Any object can be charged up and thrown which is really convenient. Of course using playing cards is cooler. Lol.
Hasbro did a great job with the figure. I've only one minor gripe and that is the hair. It's quite long and swept to one side. Not too sure if this is any particular artist's style. In any case it looks awkward. Is there wind constantly blowing or something? I would have liked if they kept it like on the Toy Biz figure. The rest of him is fine. He's got a nice head sculpt. I like the little smirk. He has a bit of a five o'clock shadow which I think could be done better. It's a little too much too one side on my figure. His red eyes have black pupils. Click images to enlarge. The torso is new. He's wearing his trademark purplish padded armour. The blue piece at the top has quite a bit of line detail. The pants too are new. You can make out some creases in it and there's sculpted deco running down the sides which I'll show you below. He's also got new boots. The trenchcoat reuses the same one we've seen before, like on Multiple Man.
Just to show you the sculpted purple deco of his pants and also the sculpted detail on his boots. Very nice!
Accessories. He comes with his staff, a single charged card with energy effect rising out of it and a left hand throwing three cards. I would have liked if he came with an extra left gripping hand. That way he can hold the staff double handed. There is no BAF part.
I love the cards. They really help to show off his abilities. The single card may be slot in between his fingers of his left hand.
I like how they did the three card throwing hand. The hand is actually translucent pink and the glove and skin tone were painted. Check out the tip of his fingers. They left a little unpainted giving them the charge effect as well. Cool. A minor gripe with the hand is that it does not have a hinge.
Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, swivel hinge elbows, swivel and up and down hinge right wrist, swivel hinge left wrist, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up and down okay. The ab crunch allows two clicks forward. He cannot arch back much due to the coat.
Comparison shots.
Great figure! Love it! Just waiting on Storm now to complete the animated series team. Thanks for viewing!
