Star Wars The Black Series Padme Amidala (AOTC Jumpsuit)

Here's a look at the Star Wars The Black Series Padme Amidala.

The figure is based on her appearance in Attack of the Clones. She is wearing the white jumpsuit which she wore at the battle on Geonosis. This is the full outfit before it got battle-damaged. I'm sure you know all that already. I'm glad they came out with this version as this is perhaps her most iconic look. I don't really care for her other outfits, some of which she wore for only a few minutes. Or less. She's got a great help sculpt. The likeness is good. There's an intensity about her. She has a couple of moles on her face. I didn't realise she had that many. The eyes were very well done. Thank goodness! She wears a cape which kinda resembles a towel to me. I like the look of it. I like the shape and the way it hangs. It's textured and has folds in it. Very nice! As the cape covers her shoulders, it will hinder arm articulation.

The cape is removable. It might take you a bit of effort to get it off though. The head proved quite difficult to remove. It is possible to try and slide the cape off but you risk scratching the head and scraping the paint. There's some nice detail on her jumpsuit. You can make out the seams and wrinkles on it. The silver armbands were sculpted. As were the detail on her boots. There are ridges on the soles of her boots. The belt is a separate piece.

Accessories. She come with an alternate right hand with a bigger grip, a blaster rifle and a pistol.

The default right hand has a smaller grip. It's meant for the pistol which she can hold very well. I like the appearance of the pistol. Shiny. The handle was painted. Notice the trigger which was left silver. Very nice! The pistol may be stored in the holster on her belt.

Switch out the hand and now she can hold the blaster rifle. The rifle belonged to a Battle Droid. If you recall in the movie, she picked it up from the ground. I love the paint apps on it. The touches of silver gives it a worn and metallic appearance.

Articulation. She has a ball joint at the upper neck, ball joint lower neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, swivel and up and down hinge right wrist, swivel hinge left wrist, ball joint torso, Y-joint type hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. She cannot really look up or down. There are not too many nice poses you can do with the Y hips. It also doesn't help that my figure has loose ankle pivot.

Comparison shots.

Great figure! Love the look and accessories. Thanks for viewing!

Great review! I especially love the last picture - though it took me a moment to get the joke :D The figure looks beautiful. But what is the matter with those y-hips? Is there any benefit to them? Because, if they restrict movement, I'm really not sure why hasbro is starting to introduce them to the line o_O

@Damon - Thanks! I think maybe they wanted to keep the figure as slim as possible, hence the Y hips. Y hips are awkward to pose as the legs spread more the more you raise them.

@GIJigsaw - Thanks!
