Marvel Legends Series Ultimate Riders Professor X with Hover Chair

It's finally here! I've been eagerly waiting for this guy. The most powerful telepath and founder of the X-men, Professor Charles Xavier. With hover chair!

Notice the logo at the bottom left of the package? This is one of the first 80 Years of Marvel releases we'll be getting this year.

Professor X reuses the Chameleon suited body which we've seen several times before. His suit here is green, which was the colour he typically wore in the comics. And also in the 90s X-men animated series which I watched a lot of back then. The 90s team is coming together nicely! I hope they announce Storm soon. The blue and black tie has a bit of shine to it. The head and  hands look big. He can get away with it though once properly posed. I think he's got a great head sculpt. The likeness is good. There's a classic vibe about him. The eyebrows have been a prominent feature of his and I don't mind the look of them here.

A close-up of the head. The eyes were well done.

If you like to turn him mad or evil, you can put on the Ultimate Vulture head. I think it's passable. They even have similar eye colour. The head is just a little small in size.

The main attraction of this set really is the hover chair. For a long time you wouldn't have thought they would make one. It was only when they introduced the Ultimate Riders line that hope was renewed. The hover chair comes in several parts. The main body comes in two halves. Then you have the seat cushion, back padding and a blanket. It looks like there's a X imprint on the back padding. Can you guys see it?

In addition there's a hover effect. Other accessories include the Cerebro helmet, a telepathic effect and Shadow King's head for use on the Kingpin. I will not be touching on the Shadow King at this time. I actually have not fully opened the Kingpin series yet. I'll say this though, the Shadow King has an excellent head sculpt. There's lots of nice detail, especially the teeth and the facial lines. The shades are removable too. I may revisit it at another time.

Here's the hover chair fully assembled. It's quite big as it should be and it looks great! It has a good amount of detail on it. There are various panels on it and vents. There's some swirly lines in the plastic on the front but it's not too bad. Another gripe is the noticeable line where the two halves connect. Guess it can't be help. The hover chair also looks a little "plasticky". Hmm I might get it painted. The hover effect is useful for a dramatic scene. And it also helps to raise the chair in a display if needed. For normal scenes I doubt I will use it. I think it looks fine on the ground on its own.

The cushion and back padding peg into the chair. You can slide the panels on the armrest to one side and reveal a mini-monitor and console underneath. Very nice!

The blanket piece covers his lower body very nicely.

Here's Professor X sitting comfortably in his hover chair. Most regular sized figures may fit in the chair as well.

The Cerebro helmet has a nice shape and look to it. I like it's metallic appearance. It fits snugly on his head. Other characters, especially those with hair may not be able to wear it. That rules out Jean and Emma Frost.

The telepathic effect pegs onto the back of the Cerebro helmet. It doesn't really translate well in plastic form. I guess to someone who knows the character its fine. To others they'll probably wonder if the helmet is malfunctioning.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ab crunch, waist rotation, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.

Comparison shots.

Just to give you a rough feel of the hover chair's size compared with various characters.

Great figure! Love the hover chair! Thanks for viewing!

Awesome displays! Now that they released Lilandra's head with Mystique, guess I will have to get Professor X.
