IAmElemental 6.5" Courage Figure

Spotted this IAmElemental Courage figure while shopping online. It looked like a really cool figure with good articulation and so I decided to get one.

I have not heard of this particular line of figures before so I went and Googled it. IAmElemental is the company behind the figures and they were designed to be a positive interpretation of the female action figure. It is line meant for Girls (and Boys) to encourage the use of their imagination and allow them to "envision themselves as strong, powerful and connected beings at the centre of a story of their own making".

Courage is the theme of the first series of figures and is also the name of the figure you see here. As far as I know Courage is the only one available as a 6.5" tall figure. She also comes in the 4" scale along with the other characters which are named after the "Elements of Power". They are Bravery, Energy, Honesty, Industry, Enthusiasm and Persistence. There is a villain in the line and she is named Fear. Each character has a symbol and a number, kinda like the Periodic table which you can see on the packaging. It is an interesting way of presenting the characters.

Courage looks great. She has that animated style look which I like. I think she's got a great head sculpt. She wears a hint of a smile and strikes me as being confident and having spunk. Her mask is missing a bit of paint at the bottom. Fortunately it's not that noticeable from a distance. The hair has nice detail. She looks great in action poses with her pigtails in mid-motion like that. The plastic used for the body of the figure feels solid and durable. She's wearing a suit of some sort. It was painted with metallic paint. I like that there's some blue at the top. It breaks up the red and helps differentiate her skin from the suit. On her arms are sculpted gauntlets and on her feet are plated boots.

Accessories. She comes with a helmet, chest armour, shoulder armour, a flaming sword and a shield. Also included is a collectible card and booklet where you can see and read about the 4" figures in the series.

To put on her armour you'll need to remove her head first. The shoulder pieces peg into the straps of the chest armour. It requires some fiddling to do so, so I suggest leaving them on out of the package. I like the shine of the helmet and armour.

There is a slot on the side of her left leg. The only use I can find so far for it is to carry her shield. The shield is small and I would have liked if she had a bigger one. Her symbol and name are painted on the front and the IAmElemental logo was sculpted on.

A closer look at her sword. The sword was made of a soft type of plastic. Take care how you keep it as you do not want the blade to warp. The flame effect is stuck on so. The sword has a unique handle which corresponds with how her right hand was sculpted so she wields it better in her right hand.

Articulation. She's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, a bit of a butterfly joint, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, revolver joint wrists, ball joint torso, ball joint waist, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, revolver joint ankles and pivot. She cannot look up or down. With the shoulder armour on she cannot turn her head much. The shoulder armour have hinges and can be raised to allow for a little better arm articulation. There's good bend at her elbows and knees. She can hardly turn her body at both the torso and waist joints. She can however bend and tilt her body pretty well.

Comparison shots. If you're thinking of using the figure for a custom she can feet in pretty well with DCUC and Marvel Legends figures.

Courage is a cool figure. I think the kids will love it. Thanks for viewing!
