Transformers: Age of Extinction Construct Bots Grimlock

I had quite a busy weekend. I was at the Campus Game Fest for the cosplay and I went to China Square Central to check out the 501st Singapore Garrison and the newly formed Cathar Outpost - Rebel Legion Singapore. Follow the links for pics from those.

I also caught Transformers: Age of Extinction. I found it boring and below expectations. Which happens to be the same way I feet about the toys. They don't seem to be as appealing this time round. A friend recommended this piece. I was hesitant but I got it anyway. After playing with it I have to say he was right, this is a good toy.

This is my first Construct Bot. The pieces are easy to put together.

So here's Grimlock in robot mode. He's pretty solid looking from the front. He's got a great head sculpt. He's tall and has got good width. There's nice armour detail too. I like the simpler design and the colour scheme compared to the voyager and leader class figures.

The side view. He's slim and there's a gap due to the gear. If you like you can actually remove the gear piece and have the dino head flush against his back.

Here's a close up of his face. I really love how the blue of his eyes stand out. The Autobot logo was very nicely sculpted.

His tail becomes his sword in robot mode. He can hold it well in either hand.

He's very poseable. He's got ball joints at his neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles.

He's able to transform. The transformation is simple. Adjust the arms, bring up the dino head, bend the legs and attach the tail. There are tabs for the parts to be secured tightly. His beast mode looks good as well, aside from the exposed back with the gear visible.

Speaking of which, turn the blue gear on his back and it'll make him bend his head and open his mouth.

He's quite poseable in beast mode and he can stand well. You need to unpeg his dino arms from the body for them to move.

Comparison shots. I'm really impressed with his size. He's as big as a voyager class in both robot and beast mode.

This is a great, fun figure. He looks good and has got size. It's also cheaper than a deluxe class figure. Good value. Thanks for viewing!

This guy does look cool. I think if you combined this guy with one of the Megatron from an earlier wave you could make a nice custom Beast Wars style Megatron.
