Sweet child o' mineeeeee!!!!!
The trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder was pretty awesome wasn't it? I'm liking what's been shown so far. We get a glimpse of Thor in his new armour. Having something to compare with now this figure may be a little inaccurate. There's too much gold on the front. Unless it changes into this when he fully armours up. We'll just have to wait and see. The design reminds me on Nova.
The figure is mostly new. I think only the upper arms reuses those from the Infinity War figure. There are visible pins at the elbows. The knees are pinless. There's a great amount of detail for his armour. Practically all of it is textured. And the colours on it are simply superb! The gold, silvers, black and blues were all nicely applied. Metallic paint was used in some areas and they really stand out. I admittedly wasn't that keen on the figure for the colour combination but it's starting to grow on me. Come to think of it wearing the gold may symbolise him taking over his father's position. He certainly comes across as royalty with all the shining armour. The cape is pretty light and flexible. It has some wrinkles and flowy detail on it.
The back of his suit has nice detail as well.
The helmet too has nice detail on it. It's cast in gold plastic with the blue deco nicely applied. His hair is wind swept and has some dirty brown shading in it. One thing I don't like about the head is that he looks cockeyed. Overall he looks pretty badass.
Tried out some head swaps. All of the heads will fit. The following two heads used are from the AOU and Infinity War Thor figures.
And this is the new Ravager Thor head. Looking really good. Annoyed that the eyes were painted looking up.
Just for fun. Here's Beta Ray Bill. It looks pretty good I must say.
Accessories. He comes with an extra right fist and Stormbreaker. I would have liked if he also came with a left gripping hand and a left fist.
This Stormbreaker is the one with the slimmer handle which we've seen before. His grip on it is a little loose. I would have preferred if they gave us the thicker one from the Infinity War Thor.
Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, diaphragm joint, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look up just a little bit. The hair gets in the way but you can force it a little. He can look down well. Raising his arms will make a wide V due to the shoulder pads. He cannot bend forward. He can bend back and tilt his body to the side decently.
Comparison shots.
Great figure! Thanks for viewing!
