Star Wars Black Series 6" Emperor Palpatine

The Emperor demands you view this post. Do not let your thoughts betray you. He doesn't take criticism particularly well.

I bought the Emperor back at the Star Wars Day Celebrations. There were a couple available but I somehow managed to pick one with poor eye paint. Guess I was distracted... The Emperor is based on his appearance in Return of the Jedi.  He looks pretty good. I think they did a good job with the robes. It's of a similar material to Darth Vader's cape and is well stitched. The shape of the hood isn't too bad. It sits a little high but I think it's decent. Putting him back in the tray should help with the hood's shape so I'm going to keep it.

The robes are removable. The two sides are held together by a clasp which has some nice detail on it. The peg of the clasp is too big and long, hence you might notice his right side looks a bit raised.

Underneath he's wearing another set of robes. The top half was sculpted while the lower "skirt" portion is a separate piece held in place at his mid-section. The "skirt" is rather stiff and restricts most of his leg articulation. There's nice material detail on the torso. His back looks sweaty.

And underneath the inner robes he's wearing pants and boots. The pants are textured.

He's got a great head sculpt. There's lots of wrinkles on his face and on his neck. They also have shading to them. He still has hair as you can see. I like his eyes with orange ring around them. It 's pretty accurate to how they were in the show. The dark grey shading underneath them make it seem like he hasn't slept in days.. His eyes were painted looking to his left on my figure unfortunately.

Just for fun. Here's how Luke looks in the robes. It's not too bad. If not for the clasp he might look better.

Accessories. He only comes with a walking stick. It's very well shaped. The handle was made with a stiff type of plastic while the lower portion is softer. The walking stick is not long enough. He has to bend forward quite a bit at the hips in order for his walking stick to touch the ground. I'm quite disappointed he did not come with a lightsaber. Yoda had one so I don't see why The Emperor couldn't come with one as well. He also should have had some lightning effects pieces.

Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel and vertical hinges, waist pivot, ball hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. There's pretty good articulation in the legs but most of it is restricted by the stiff "skirt" portion.

Comparison shots.

Good figure. He'll fit in well with the other figures in the series. The restricted leg articulation and the lack of accessories is disappointing though. Thanks for viewing!
